• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Air Filter Oil

Cycle Gear still does. There must be one near you.

There's a Cycle Gear less than a mile from my house which I drop in at all the time, but they have never carried the Bel Ray air filter oil.:excuseme:

Hmm, I bought a bottle there just a couple of months ago. Store off Nordahl. Maybe I just got lucky. :)

Hmm, I'll have to go back in and look. I even asked Loren about it one time, but apparently they didn't have a supplier at the time that carried it. Granted, I haven't actually bothered to look on the shelf there for it since they told me they couldn't get it a couple of years ago. I did see that they carried the 154 oil filter for the Husqvarnas.

Stuff I have is Twin Air dirt bio remover made by motorex....it comes in a liter bottle labeled Twin air..but says motorex below and its a powder........3 liters hot water to 100ml of the stuff.....I can clean 4 filters in one go....the stuff lasts a long time....I am still on the same bottle and through two seasons....

Thanx Troy I guess this stuff beats using kerosene. Gotta try it.

I've always bought spare filters for every bike I've had.
I find it a lot easier cleaning 2-4... then just one filter after a ride.
The other thing I like to do is once the filters are clean and dry I put some filter oil on the filter (more then needed) but not uniformly, place the soaked filter in a plastic Freezer bag, then work it in. I let it sit over nite to allow any excess oil to collect at the bottom of the bag instead of the air box. Any extra oil can then be reused. Good way to keep extra filters race/ride ready.

Loren's great, isn't she. You know, I've looked for the HF 154 every time I've been in there and I've yet to see one on the shelf. You buy the filters and I'll get the air filter oil and we'll meet on the trail!

I've never heard of anyone mixing their own oil either. Filter oil has a quick evaporating agent in it so you can get it applied, then it sets up super tacky. I've used several brands and really like the PJ1 spray and the liquid BelRay. The latter is not that pricey IMO and a bottle last a good while. I've never had a filter using either one.

I use PJ1 oil and cleaner- both in spray form
never heard of anyone Mixing there own stuff- or using chainsaw oil.
they are not similar at all-

Same here. That spray on filter oil is just too easy to use.

I remember in the early 70s, we all used to just use some of our two stroke oil on our air cleaners.:D Of course. some of that oil would eat some of the air cleaners....

Have three Twin Air air filters and clean them all in one setting which makes it more bearable.. Use Twin Air filter oil and seems very tachy and has eliminated dirt/dust instrusion.

I agree way oil is very similar. I use mobil 1 way oil on my lathe but have not tried it on the airfilter.

I have tried many filter oils but have found Notoil to be my favorite. I also use the Notoil cleaner and rim grease to "seal" the filter to the airbox.

I use Bel-Ray filter oil and PJ1 filter cleaner. Both are a little more expensive than some alternatives but seem to last a long time. I always try to buy products from companies who support the sport even if it costs a little more.

Motul filter oil and cleaner.
Motul has an oil for every dirtbike need. ;)
 on the Motul. It's a little harder to find over here, but I use the 300v in my KTM's. The results are nothing short of amazing.

Yeah, I used motor oil on the Uni Filters I used on my first two Huskies. '72 RT360 and '73 CR250

That is, after I used the OEM pleated-paper filters Husky came with.

They were great for motor life .... and for ending your day. They wouldn't let water pass, so you watered out unless you had a spare in your tailpack. Good though for no dirty water filling you 2-strokes bottom end.
He-he.

"ROCK OIL" A very progressive Racing Dept. out of England. Used in GP motocross, offroad, recommended oil for BMW and other car/truck/tractor applications.

They have a water soluble foam air filter oil that works great. After cleaning your air cleaner who does'nt want to clean up with water? I wont go back to the norm.
The local US Distributor 1-408-348-2360 Gary.(This guy is a long time Husky racer too)

Rockoil....haven't heard that name for a while. When I had a little repair and accessory shop back in the 80s, I carried nearly the whole line of Rockoil. Good products. Spotty availability from the distributor made it tough to keep stocked back then.

Yes sometimes Gary is "spotty", but very good oil---Syn 4 is a very good 4 stroke oil. Try it its pretty cheap too.

NO-TOIL. It's like the Twinair bio stuff. Washes up with water and the cleaning powder and you can use it in the washing machine. I wait until I get about 4 dirty filters and throw them in the washer. Come out like new.

They have started selling NO-TOIL in Iceland and I have being thinking about it . Is it OK to use it with original filter or do you need NO-TOIL filter ?
