As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I'd jump on that. Figured there would be more interest by now. Ifwe get enough it may be a little whileWhat's the time frame for this as I am shopping now. I get about 100 off a new lid from my dealer now.
hey LoM-
I've been looking at Airoh for a couple of years now; I might want to be in on this. Put me down for a pretty definite "maybe".
Especially if it just has Euro safety approvals (I'm tired of Snell. My current HJC weighs a dangerous 3.68 lbs; the Lg Airoh Terminator is 1150g or, uh, 2.5lbs... that's a huge difference). BSE is fine, and I guess so is DOT (does DIN or CS have helmet standards?)
This outfit can get (some) Terminators for under $300 delivered (but it's 2-3week delivery; t'aint Amazon)
ebay helmet from Italy
I've been "watching" them for some time now; just haven't pulled the trigger quite yet.
Even though my HJC is made out of lead or whatever, temp-wise, it is the coolest MC helmet I've owned (it's a SPX). FYI- all my helmets from the '90s weigh-in under 3lbs, all of 'em from the new millennium are over 3lbs.
I recently had a very hard time dealing with Airoh America...
What's the shops name?
I found a respectable seller on eBay with a shop out of Colorado. I actually ordered through them earlier when I checked my account online and found out that I received my refund. Will be at the door next Tuesday.
What's the shops name?
hey, let us know what you think of it when it arrives. Pictures will get you some "likes" too!
Odd that there's no ece either...maybe they're putting it inside, thought all of it was always posted outside though
I will do some more investigation tonight. I don't even think there was any info on that sellers ebay page in regards to it. The quality, fit, and finish of this helmet is beyond exceptional. I am coming from an Icon Variant helmet (I ride street 95% of the time) and can't get over the weight difference and how much more comfortable it is.
Great report, thanks. Looks like you're a Caroli fan I'm guessing. What are the diffs between the Aviator gen 1 & 2, if they're detailed.
I think the Terminator weighs a bit more than the Aviator... but is still super light. I'm pretty sure they're both ECE certified, but like I said I'd be happy with the British or German standards- BSE or TUV/DIN? IIRC.
Thanks for the feedback.
i hear you about the shipping...i ordered my studded mitas tires off ebay and they shipped from eastern europe..was amazed how fast they shipped! its been awhile but it was crazy, like 3 days..
im due for a helmet...thinking hard about a airoh..
