Thanks for the info guys. I plan on ordering the parts over the next couple days and I'll have to contact Dan also. I want to get heated grips and gear to ride in these extreme temperatures.
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
One of the reasons for this run was to check the air/fuel. I have been chatting with the Steve and Roger with the AF XIED O2 mod.
Both insist that the bike is to run rich at full throttle, so I ran the 6k, to see if on a non full throttle it was still rich, and it is. Phil at ESP, who did the dyno test confirmed that it was way rich even for full throttle on the higher end.
Also, talking with Stephan at hexcode (gs911) The AF XIED that works on the BMW F800 apparently works on the Terra. (Ask Qurky)
Originally I was going to go after an O2 spoof. With the fact that my bike runs rich at higher RPM, I am apprehensive of running the AIT spoofers or any spoof that doesn't compensate for the richness at higher RPM's. I have been chatting in a couple different places about designing a mod that will do both enrich at low, and lean at high. The PC5 does, @$600 or so.
Originally I was designing based on a wide band O2, and thought I had a solution, but turns out the TR uses a narrow band O2 and the game changed. I have two separate companies that will assist in the circuit design, at a price. Two separate semiconductor companies have offered sample chips. I just really need to sit down with an O scope and some nerds and get this designed. In the meanwhile, I may or may not run the Eruption, as my bike does OK without the Eruption.
Next tankful I will run with the Eruption and see how it affects my mileage. One thing I would like to mention is that my bike has dropped MPG just by ambient air temp dropping. Most of my great mileage was in 100º temps. The last couple rides have been around 80º or so. (sorry cold weather friends, you can keep your snow).
Just bought a Strada, aaaaaand it stalls out all the time, even after a MOSS session. So, the question is: is there any reason why a guy would want to buy a Power Commander with Auto Tune instead of just doing the Eruption mod? Aside from the obvious cost considerations, is there anything significant the PCV does that the Eruption does not, such as adjusting for leanness on the top end?
Thanks!
Installed the eruption and fully happy with the difference made.
I'm up in Canada ans it's still a little cold here. When the CEL came on I wasn't surprised BUT when my comes on the temp. readout goes blank with --- three dashes instead. Does this occur to others?
I'm starting to wonder if one of the leads is making intermittent connection as the readout does this inconsistently.
Hi Mag00,
I see you have been talking to Roger about the AF-Xied. Have you seen his research that suggests that AIT spoofers are quickly adapted out by the BMW/Bosch ECU's?

post no. 389.
A very interesting mod, run-it. Well documented.
I'll be having a look at the IAT on my TE449.
I assume it'll be different (It runs Keihin injection, also tuned lean by BM-Trouble-you), but the mod might work for it just the same.
A bit of time in the shed with the multimeter coming up again![]()
If it has an IAT & they used a 5kNTC thermistor in it - the mod should work.![]()
It has an IAT, not sure on the values yet as I'm away for work, but I'll be sure to test it over Easter when I'm home.
I thought a fair bit about it last night, if it has the sensor in the system, it must have corrections in the mapping, otherwise why have it?
What brand ECUs do the TR650s run? The TE449 is Keihin.
I'm keen, thanks for the idea. This is where forums are great![]()
I just thought I would mention that can use 4 50kOhm thermistors, probably more manageable than 8 100kOhm. You could use 2 25kOhm thermistors if you could find ones with less than 2% tolerance.
