• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Alternative to Klim ?

I have some Klim Chinook pants. Fits absolutely great but what I really like is the attachment to the bike through the knee patches. I have had some other pants that provided very little friction and have allowed the bike to come out from under me more than once. Me likey long time.

First gear Kilimanjaro jacket is what i have now. Before that is a was Teknic and i gave the Teknic jacket away at the ice races this year after 16 years of service. Still have the over pants. Good gear and cheep price dont go together.

Dunno, I like this place, Brian (Bryan?) rides, seems to know what works, and gets decent prices:

In addition to all the other suggestions, every MSR product that I own has impressed me... so I might be looking there as well.

Looks like Klim for '13 resolved a fit issue I have with two same sizes with different fit. They now have side velco straps for adjustment. This might have saved me losing weight to fit the pants.

Come at me bro. I just lost 20 pounds and am 190-195 and 6 foot so eat me. :D I am in good shape and really good ride shape. BTW I can loose more, you will always be short. Love you.

didnt get this old by being short 'n slow....or a lousy shot. hehehehe. gota catch me first big man.

i like them reinforced knees on the Klim poster.
some of the crap i ride just rips pants and stuff to smithers.

im small and can fit through the tight stuff ok but i still come home with holes in me and my gear.
if they had some vents too more's the better. i normally buy bargain basement stuff cuz it dont last. if the klim has vents and lasts i might invest. like the tan color on that kilm ad that's wicked cool. thanks kel given me some ideas.

Not that pvduke cares but they're available in tall sizes

quiet you!!! you n the rest of ya knuckle draggers can follow me down the wabbit hole on the angry midget ride sometime. see how many times ya git scrubbed off the back fender. bring some band-aids! mreeep mreeeep mreeeeeep!

I used to ride with the MSR Strike pants. But the material they used inside the knees provides very little friction with the tank and seat. YMMV.

I just bit the bullet and ordered some Dubinky pants, my Klims are falling apart. I hope these are better made, I'll let you all know after some time to see how they hold up. They'll get the several thousand mile test this year with a 3 day ride planned, the Sheetiron and the western TAT, not to mention day rides.

The Mojaves I have now were tested at a very hot MX race track & worked very well ... Almost forgot I had them on ... No heat built-up at all and very comfortable ...

I got a feeling these pants are gonna last a long time and get worn alot when not riding my bike also ..

I'm thinking I'll throw these in a bucket of water with some soap then stomp up & down on them for cleaning... Then hose them off and let them hang-dry overnight ...

I wiped out hard at the Rausch Creek Hare Scramble on Saturday with some Mojave pants on and hit some rocks pretty hard. No scuffs or anything I could find.

I just picked up their F4 helmet. 41 vents should keep my noggin cool in this central cali heat!

Very nice helmet BTW, fits well, well thought out for Summer and Winter Riding and they must know Im going to break the beak, they send a spare!
I am very happy with KLIM, could care less that most of their bike stuff is sold to ADV types that hardly ever see a real dirt track.

FedEx is on schedule to deliver mine on Tuesday, 6/11. Looking forward to getting it. I like the 41-vent feature. Ordered mine direct from Klim.

Rode it hard today in 90 plus heat, its FANTASTIC!
Selling my Hornet and probably my XD4

Looks like these helmets have a ram-air scoop system on top ...

they do, very well thought out, slow speeds no issue, head turned, no issue. They did a great job, its very light as well.
The scoops may get in the way of low branches but if they are that low, my line was off anyways ;)
