• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone in the NW want try a Lectron TR650 carb conversion?

Yeah, Lectrons from what I've seen are 100% On/Off (2 modes ONLY) Drag racing carbs. That might get you killed on a Husky TR650 unless you are drag racing.

Since KTM already did a 660(?) cc Duke version in 1997 yielding 50 hp+ w/a Single Del Orto, I still think that is the deluxe carb alternative for any 650cc Rotax engine. I already got a used 2 in 1 Bombardier DS650 intake manifold off ebay for $20 for my 1997 F650 ST (same exact engine for Bombardier 2000 to 2008 - Top Pic (from ebay if it disapears).)

After posting 2 side by side heads (bottom pic is TR650 reposted above for convenience), I just remembered that this was the bottom up totally redesigned EFI 650 engine via the Cylinder head, so nothing in 20th century may work, UNLESS you go to a Lectron drag racing carb. But that kind of takes the skill and fun out of motorcycling to me anyway - and would be dangerous as hell! ymmv

Nope, sold over 300 or them for everything from 80's to DR650's. Installed one this weekend on a older FE501 berg, made it start right and rip.

As for the TR650 i think it is going to be to much crap to make it work and no one is interested. Makes sense.

Thanks.
