• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

APT SmartCarb

The APT guys have stated on the various threads across the various bbs' that the tapered bores are for racing applications when you spend most of your time WFO like on snow mobiles or other vehicles where you mainly ride WFO.

For most enduro, trail riding, hare scrambles type applications, they recommend the 36mm. Can't wait to try mine, I have it, just waiting for the bike to show up!

All over. I am from the South. I live in Mississippi and ride the Southern Enduro Riders Asso. Events (My Wife, Debbie is SERA President) and I ride a lot of Nat'l Enduros still.
Not where do you ride.... What do you ride? 2010 WR300??

Like MotoMarc36 said, the "taper bore" is from the intake bell side toward the throat. A standard carb is one diameter from just before the slide the rest of the way through. A taper bore will be bigger on the bell side and tapper down to the normal size. Normally at around a 2 to 5 degree taper.

The small bottom and large top of the throat is called a 'key hole" bore. And yes, it's supposed to act like a smaller bore carb on the bottom and bigger bore carb on the top.

The early order program is up and running. I placed my order and it was #1586 in just the two hours since they opened it.

I wonder if they started at #1500 or something. It is very, very hard to imagine they pre-sold over 1500 units in a couple of hours, but I may be wrong!

Unless..... GasGas, KTM, and/or another bike companies placed orders. I guess I need to log on and get an order in too :D. Walt you aren't snowed in yet are you?

That is probably just their total invoices to date. But I fully expect them to sell a thousand of these very quickly.

The weather man said there was a 100% chance of snow last night and today...........Zip. I actually would love to try your 36 now as they don't make the 36 in the cast version.

You are welcome to give it a try Walt just pry it off Kelly's bike and bolt it up . Or.... just give him a call and get him send it your way when he's done. I still have two bikes to ride so I'm good.

I went to the apt website a few weeks ago and clicked on the "notify me when available" box for the billet 36. I wonder if I still need to pre-order one or not:thinking:. I sent corey a pm and hope to hear back soon.

It's my understanding the billet carbs are in production and should be ready in Jan. . The cast carbs are the pre-order units so they can get an idea of demand and should be ready by spring. Cory has been great at getting info out so I'm sure he'll get your question answered.
