• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Aqualine to the rescue?

Well I just called. The Tank is IMS and it's 4.5 gallons. Right now they can only get clear tanks. (That could be 4.5 Imp gallons.)

Well,

I emailed IMS myself and here's what they said:

"Hi Rick,

Unfortunately, we do not offer a tank for the current fuel injected 610 model. Sorry about that. Thanks for your email!"

So I don't know what to say. I will call the Dealer back on Tuesday.

Yep. I think we all sort of hoped against hope it might be, but deep down inside i kept hearing George tell me what i had heard over and over.

"no tank for the fi 610"

Aqualine is a GREAT tank maker. Lots of guys race Dakar Rally using only one tank, the mighty Aqualine.

So give it a couple months and we should be in good shape.

The US $ has gained 1/3rd or more against the Ozzie $ so we should be ok.

Wont be cheap, i'm guessing $400 or so, but it will be top notch.

Just got this from R.V. Aqualine...still a few months off...maybe a few more enquiries will prompt some haste!

Thank you for your enquiry, yes we are making a tank for the TE610 and
TE450, because there is still a lot of design and development to be done on
this tank I do not have a lot of information at this stage but it is looking
like it will available towards the end of the year. Feel free to contact us
again in a few months or keep an eye on our web site for updates.

Regards,

Nicole

And.....

And I'm tired of pushing my bike - or hanging fuel containers off all the places I can think of!

I hope one of these options comes true. The first response I received from Aqualine said March. Later they said May and claimed it would be 22-23 liters. Now we're hearing "end of the year" and no size estimate.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed:excuseme:

I had a conversation with Robin Box the other day...mostly in regards to the 450 as I mentioned I was having a year off from the Australian Safari, and going back next year as a Husky (as opposed to orange) rider.
I was initially asking about a tank for a TE 450...he mentioned yes, and probably around 17 ltrs. So not enough range, maybe rear sub frame tank etc, low slung header/can...
Also asked about 610 tank as I want a bigger dual sport (and a very dirt capable bike at that).
His response was also to talk about a 23 ltr tank for such a bike. So I'd put money on that size.

Good News

Hello Guymcfly:

Thanks for putting in a pitch for our bikes and the good news.

I would really like to see them do rear tanks for it as well. that way I could combine there rear tanks with an IMS main

It would be worth every1 contacting them...they won't go ahead (or go faster with development) unless there is lots of interest.

Lots of enquiries = faster production

i have been looking for something bigger than 3 gal for my 08 te 450 also. glad to see others enjoying theirs too. i need closer to 6 for the baja trips i do but will be happy with anything over 4.5 so i will email aqualine as well. i will keep searching but are their any other options out there, side mounts, auxiliary, etc.?

question?

if husky/bmw is trying to compete with ktm with these bikes, why are they not pushing acerbis, aqualine, etc. to build a larger tank like ktm does? ktm had a 6 gallon tank out within 6 months of the release of the 530. just thinking that maybe we should be emailing husky to push for bigger options. they have the backing to get things done.:excuseme:

I have spoke with Scot (Harden) and he says they are pushing for bigger tanks but I am not sure who they are working with. I'm guessing that's why we see 2010 "large capacity accessory tanks" in the list of features.
