  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

are 2010 Stock Radiator Y Pipes Available?

Just like the title says.....are 2010 stock radiator Y pipes available? I read on CafeHusky that they are a stock item on the 2010 TE510. If so, from where? Thanks

If your dead set on the stock plastic Y you could try halls (www.halls-cycles.com), but I would highly recommend getting the aluminum up-tite Y. I'm not sure on the price or availability of the OEM husky part, but I would guess it's not much cheaper than the up-tite part, will take 3 weeks to get, and it's still plastic. Hope this helps.

Doesn't that set have the same problem that the Y overcomes... The flow of the coolant will favour one radiator. If I'm not mistaken, the Y is intended to distribute the coolant equally.

Yes, you're probably right. but they are pretty cool. I have the Up Tite Y on my 08 TE250. more just to eliminate the plastic connector than to equalize coolant flow. My new 2010 250 has this same type of hose setup with the integrated T, and I haven't experienced any overheating. I also removed the fan to save weight. No problems.

Is this "Y" fitting needed for the 2010 SMR's? I have a new 510 and if this will help keep it cooler(I'm in Texas and it's HOT!) I'm all for it.

I'm not too sure about the 2010 SMRs. The 2010 TE got a "Y" from the factory so I would assume the SMRs did too. Just lift the tank an look behind the left side radiator. If the hoses "Y" off your good, if they "T" off call up-tie and order a "Y". Hope this helps.

if you are set on plastic ones I picked up a handful of glass filled black nylon Y's last year from MSC Industrial supply. They are rated to 450 degrees more or less. part #60474327 for $2.15 each

Thank you, I'll check it out this weekend while installing the PC V.
