• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Aww, sucks :(

Any updates?

I left a couple of notes on the car with no results. I kind of want to look this "Bobby" from Concord, CA in the eyeball at the very least. Maybe I will go to PD next week and try to see if they would look at the video and my info, but I was really discouraged when I talked to them over the phone.

What did you say in your note?

I would say something like: "I have surveillance video footage showing it was you who backed into my motorcycle. I would like to keep this off of everyone's driving and insurance records. If you fail to contact me I will be forced to file a police report and have you prosecuted for hit and run."

After viewing the video I'd say that this driver has no intention on making good on the damages he caused.

I'd find his residential address, knock on his door and demand payment. Assuming he gives you the run around, I'd then go file a complaint in small claims court and have him served.

That same day I'd take a copy of the video along with the drivers name and address to the PD and insist that they take a report. They may not prosecute but at least it'd be documented by the cops, making your complaint that much more legit to whomever officiates the hearing.

If all else fails you could always come back later and return the favor.

yeh- i know what i posted but that's what id'ave done...

dont go hounding the jerk.
file a complaint with the local PD and be done with it, maybe small claims if you have an air tight case.

if no one was injured and the damages are under 750$ there really aint a whole lot you can do. keep pestering the guy and you can be the one in a lot of trouble. DO NOT persue him at home etc...cuz you'll be the one in the hot seat. the law protects scumbags, remember that.

if the damages were as you described, fix the bike and get on with yer life....

In the usa, U cannot take things in UR hands unless you are willing to face the consequences of UR actions ... The cops have to be involved or you can easily get on the wrong side of the law and this will empower him ... This s the last thing U want ...

So you guys works close and his sees you on the bike regularly? What was the last thing <your towns> finest had to say?
