• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Beast Mode - WR500 Yamaha

Plug looks fantastic after a few rides with the Lectron on it. Not bad for a 22 year old air cooled bike with some funky American made carb on it. :) Pump premium and Amsoil at 32:1

Rode the beast yesterday in the high country single track. I like this bike more than I should. I keep massaging and it keeps rewarding. Carb is working fantastic and the bike make gobs of liquid power everywhere. I'll start chipping away at the suspension now that the motor is 100% amazing. For making the 10 worst bikes ever list it sure seems to work well for me. Weird bike for weird guy I guess. I find that the crazy power allows me to pick lines otherwise not available. You can blip the throttle and be past or on top of anything. It is actually very liberating once you figure it out. Like any bike it is all about trade offs and exploiting the good stuff. It is very planted and does not get upset with trail obstacles. The predictability and the big power allow you to rip through stuff you might be trying to tip toe around on other bikes. Was not expecting to like this bike as much as I do. I'm 50 and came from riding these older bikes so maybe it just fits my older riding style. Dunno but enjoying it for sure.

Should be some good vids soon. Here are a few pix.

I don't know how you guys can switch bikes- old to new-2 stroke too 4 stroke- and still do great, I tried today after riding the same bike for 9 years and if anyone saw me they would swear I have never ridden. Much respect.:notworthy:

I have about a 4-5 bike rotation going now, all quite different from each other. But I switch a lot so it is usual for me. If I rode the same bike for 9 years it would be different. I usually have 2-3 favorites a few I like to toss in the mix. Right now I am liking the AJP PR5, CR250 husky, WR500 yamaha and TE511. the TE511 is on any rotation list for me as it is my open fast dez and DS bike.

just inspecting it and measuring to see what I have. It is in good shape but could use a piston some time semi soon.
