Interesting.... No kick starter and no head stays!
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
so I'm buying a '16 200XC-W and swapping engines! TE200 with the link!
When the '17 TE's come out, we'll see what that brings for small bores, but until the.... old tech rules!![]()
I'm still totally bipolar on this.... One minute, I'm Mr. Sensible and going to just stay with the 150 build on the TE125 (We are doing it, this week.) and wait for '17 models and see what Husky does with the new 125/150 motor, for enduro range. Then the next minute..... I'm ready to buy the '16 200XC-W and do the swap. Alan Randt fanned the flames last Friday. He came to check out the course for a local enduro, as a potential National Enduro. When I rolled out the TE125, he asked me if it was a 150? I said it was getting a 150 build next week. I asked him what Dick Burleson really thought of the TE125, not just what he said in the Husky Propaganda Mag.... He said DB preferred the 150XC! I had had a good ride at the Enduro the week before on the TE125, but was just not feeling it that morning. I was having a hard time in the tight stuff, being in the right gear at the right time and stalled it a bunch. Al said to get a 200 with the button! Oh man!damn...you are the man!!!
The stars are aligning.... Engine is out of the TE125 and getting split to install 150 crank. Local KTM shop's only '16 200XC-W they are getting this year arrived today. We agreed on price and trade for my '12 Husaberg TE250. It seems like the perfect time to do this swap. I am out of my mind, but just want to do this.So the 200 going to fit in your 15? or the 16? I want the new chassis..... Im really torn
It will now be a 150 bore and stroke motor and it will get put in the KTM. There's a guy on KTM Talk who wanted a 125EXC (XC-W), which isn't available in the US. He wanted to buy my KTM 125 swap when I was just talking about it, but evaporated when I got serious...lol guess you could put the 125 in the 200 and sell if needed to
I also dislike the PDS and like the 150 which is why I seriously considered the orange SX model and then I'd buy a big tank, the 19" tire never bothered me in the woods since Tubliss makes up for the stiff sidewall. The reason I didn't pull the trigger was it's ORANGE!Okay, the roller coaster just came to a stop.... I was ready to go down and put the deposit, on the '16 200XC-W today. I spent the morning getting the '12 Husaberg cleaned up, so I could get it ready to trade. I started to have doubts about buying another bike with PDS.... I've never been totally in love with the Husaberg's PDS. I got the bike working reasonably well, but never 100% in my book. It was such a pleasure, to get back on the linkage Husky. We just ride too much of a variety of stuff in my area; from slow and technical trails, to whooped out and fast woods roads and fields. If I just rode slower technical stuff, PDS would work great. I talked to the person, who knows my riding best and he said.... Linkage.
If the guy on KTM Talk had come through on buying my "125EXC", I'd still do this swap. But I don't want a PDS 150XC-W sitting in the shed and not wanting to ride it... too expensive to keep around and not sure there is really a market for it! So on to Huskys and most likely '17 Enduro bike. I talked to Bill (BMP) today about 150 and electric start kits for '16 TC125. A full on woods conversion from TC125 to Estart TXC150 (Or 165, if it will work), will be pricey. Bill said '16 TC125 will be only in very limited numbers and the cases will need to be split, to install the Estart kit.
Anyone who thinks I'm fickle @$$... feel free!![]()
You can buy the parts and make a TE125 into a 200. About $2000 in parts retail and a bit more with 200 pipe, CDI and PV timer. Used 200 parts are hard to come by. Other option, is to look for a used 200, freshen up the motor and swap it into TE125.Found this thread from a search, I also wanting a TE-125 with a 200 in it. So is it possible to buy parts to convert a 125 into a 200? Or can a 125 only be parts converted to a 150? And only way to go is pick up a 200 engine to fit into the TE125 frame?
