I'm somewhat surprised at some of the comments regarding parts and the TT comment, not disagreeing - just surprised. As with any brand specific forum you will have diehard fans of their brand who will overlook just about anything AND you will have those that had some problems (bike, dealer, supplier and specific to the rider) that will tell you it is just junk, but as far as the bike I have likes and dislikes with it. Having ridden YZ 2Ts for most of my 40+ yrs of riding I have tried to take those comments in stride and adapt to the bike. As far as the bike at speed, I've been beaten by guys on xr200 s and beaten guys on far more exotic rides. I have found Betariders.org and the Beta specific forum on TT to provide a great deal of info ie: the $350 piston kit can be had for much less if you do your homework just as it is with other brands of bike. I think the most comments have to do with the forks, or at least that is the one I notice - most likely due to my experience with them. But I can't think of many that I've had in recent years that I didn't rework, no different with the Beta.
Okay, I'll step down off the resident soapbox.
TT has its merits, but compared to some of the other forums It sure seems that you havE to wade throught th BS to get to the value. It just feels tense in there with all the badgering back and forth. Beta rider has the community feel like KTMtalk and cafe husky. Fewer keyboard muscles and more content.
Back to the bikes: if you decide to go with the e beta you will like the bike I'm sure. I was impressed with mine. It wasn't without its shortcomings but what bike is?
I'll stand by my parts pricing statements since I referenced msrp pricing. However, you will still pay more than the Husky even if you got a deal on the parts/accessories. I brought up the piston issue because that is one part that is going to be replaced at some point in time. I would assume that these prices would come down as more bikes hit the streets. One thing to keep in mind is that the 300rr piston is forged (oem). A cast piston can be found cheaper from pro-x. But, it's not like we are talking about replacing them every 40 hours so there is some time to save a few extra bucks.
Which company will communicate better? From my experience, Beta hands down. They were great to deal with.
cant go wrong really. Both are great bikes. Pick you robsession!
