  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys
Im new to the site and so i havn't really put up any posts. i have a 2003 TE250 that wont run. it only has an electric start but it wont stay charged and wont start the bike. i have had the valves checked by a local mechanic and not a husky guy and he also put a new starter gear on it. he has also put a 65 leak jet in the carb. after all that it just keeps getting worse and worse. i dont know what to do and am at the end of my rope:banghead: i dont know what to do. if you have any info that might help please reply.
thank you

Not to sound condescending, but you have to follow a simple process of checking things one at a time. Have you checked for spark? Have you checked the carb for clogged jets or a sticking float? Does the motor have good compression? Is fuel getting to the carb? If the valves are way off, it won't start either.
Depending on your mechanical skills, these are relatively easy things to check.
If this sounds overwhelming, then maybe someone here can suggest a good Husky mechanic in your area.

Can anyone give a brief description on this bike? Type of carb?

Can I assume it is a pumper carb because the leak jet was changed?

The battery could be beat. It must an '-04 because none were imported in '03.
Can you source another battery? Even one that doesn't fit so you an test that the starter works properly? I have seen the starter gear go bad but the starter itself I've heard no complaints about.
