• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Bit sick....... but lets see em

This must be tim that had the head-on with me on president's trail? Funny how many stories those idaho trips lead to. Nothing bad really ever happens to me, yet I had a head-on with you, was along for tami's bike breaking in half, and then you and eric had to use ropes to haul my bike back onto the upper part of skunk creek.

regarding 'bragging about injurires', i'm embarassed about mine. Every one of them represents a serious mistake on my part. I'm not planning on having any more.

Yep, that's me. How've you been, mark? The Sawtooths (Sawteeth? has anyone ever really answered that question?) seem to bring out the adventure, don't they?

It still amazes me that neither one of us was significantly hurt in that head on. Bruised and scared, sure, but it could have been WAY worse, as you were rudely reminded of a year or 2 later...

And who'd a thunk you could patch a near severed frame together with a collection of tire irons, wrenches, and hose clamps? Good times.

And hey, I think the "rope to each wheel top anchor walk the bike up the nasty talus slope one wheel at a time" technique we developed dragging the 'Berg back onto the trail was a signifcant advance in trailside recovery.

Yep, Idaho is good for the advancement of the sport, I'd say.
You coming this summer?

BTW, I like to think of less as "bragging about injuries", and more like "sharing the lessons". Heck, if you ride with Tami enough I think you could eventually qualify for an EMT license...:D

yeah i started this thread to allow people to share they experiences as i had a really bad one and was pretty down for a few month and i ride like a novice now, and was wondering how others cope with it all

plus i think think when people see a thread like this it makes them think next time they are out on a trail and messing around which could hurt others

This is simply a group of people with a shared passion that hard hurt them, but thankfully are still here to share the experience of which im sure there are many who could not be with us
I think its good to know that people get hurt, but still have the courage to get back on and ride

the worst thing for me was a torn ACL. not very big a scar, but still a 12 month recovery (since it was not considered an emergency, I waited 6 month to see the orthopedic surgeon)

Broken Tibia, shredded my MCL, Achilles, and hamstring. My shoulder also was dislocated, after four surgeries three for the leg one for the shoulder I was finaly released on April 1st.

I really need to start reading more threads........ looks like much pain was inflicted. Perhaps I could put up some nasty ones as well... but mine are probably a bit too graphic :p

Only one broken ankle from riding, but I have broken 3 ankles, 6 ribs, nose 3 times, dislocated hip and shoulder and all of my fingers playing rugby (not all at once by the way). Not to mention lots of stitching up from contact. I still play a bit and my team won the recent world seniors games in rugby where I of course stuffed my shoulder in a tackle. Me thinks I need to up the pace in my riding to get some parity. No pictures, like most footballers I am good at inflicting pain but don't care for it much when its me and I do not need reminders.
