  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Blown Fuse = Problems!

I had a couple of spare hours yesterday afternoon so headed for some close by trails on my 09 TE-510. 15 min.'s after entering woods I notice my LCD display is OUT! Hmmmm? I push in blinker cancel button & it clicks. DOH! I am riding still & surmise leaving blinker on has killed battery, keep riding figuring I can kick start when I inevitably drop it in this ridiculious rock section coming up. Didn't make it. Began smelling coolant, look down and the plastic resoirvoir is spewing steam like a nuclear teapot. Stop, turn 'er off, let her cool down. Then it hits me (no I'm not a mechanic or too terriblbby mechanically inclined, I'm guessing that's pretty obvious at this point) COOLING FAN AIN'T WORKING EITHER. Cools off some, key on AND I HAVE JUICE, E-start right up. Ahhh, fuse. Got home at a brisk pace to keep the air moving and sure enough the 20 one on far right is bad. Replaced it today & everything's seemingly fine, added coolant too of course - boy it lost A LOT A LOT - question is have others experienced this and do you folks think having the blinker going for ten minutes is what burned the fuse or was it something else?

One other question. I've been having a FI issue occasionally. Motor suddenly runs awful, burbling, coughing. Then I turn it off and on and all is fine. Sometimes follows a drop/crash. Seems to just need to be 'reset.' First time it freaked me out big time b/c I was WAY in. Anybody else?

Thanks,
John

Yep, that condition happens when you turn the bike on and start it before the pump finishes cycling and building pressure. Next time you turn the bike on wait until you hear the pump shut off.

my mate with a 08 te450 kept blowing fuses and the dash was out. Found out couple of days ago his fan had seased. Blowing the fuse.
