• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

BMP Case Saver for 610

Are you going to put your stock black cover over it?

I probably will. It looks like it will work, but the bolts that came with the case saver are too short, and the stock ones are too. So I need to see if I can find the correct length of bolts. I might have time to do that today. I'll also ride the bike today or tomorrow just to make sure the chain isn't going to make contact. I'll let you know...

Well I went for a ride today. The chain did not rub on the case saver at all, so it is compatible with the 15T countersprocket.

Let me know what bolts you get that work because I ordered the same case saver and I'm going to put the stock cover over it too.

I'm going to give a go at making my own.................. for clearances can any of ya'll tell me the tip to tip measurement of a 16T and 17T front sprocket?

I just finished it. What I ended up doing was taking the stock lower bolt and moving it to the upper position. It seemed to be just the right length. For the lower position I bought a M6-1.00X65 bolt. It seemed a tad long, so I added two washers. I did this after my ride today, so I haven't ridden it this way, but it should be fine. Of course it does move the plastic cover out farther than stock, and it feels like my foot might rest against it, but that should be ok. Here's a pic:

I just installed one on my SM610 w/15T sprocket. Here's the pic:

So what does everyone think? My dad is more of an expert than me, and he thinks the clearance should be ok since my chain is nearly new. He thought there might be a possibility of it rubbing once the countersprocket and chain get some wear on them.

That looks good, can you measure the distance between your shifter and the front of the foot peg.I was considering those pegs but they look closer to the shifter than the stock ones.
Thanks

I'll try to remember to measure at lunch time today. I have the pegs mounted in the regular position. If you mount them in the lo-boy position, I think that moves them down and back to accommodate larger feet.

Ive been looking and listenting to the case saver discussion. mte here, had te idea to tie it to the roller or subframe. After getting into it, I saw that the existing bolts and their cast bosses, look very vulnerable to me.
I see my front sprocket is getting pretty loose, is Ironman the sprocket that comes with a good tight fit?

I only had my cover off once and that was when I first got it. Remind me, does the TE not come with a case saver already or is it just the plastic cover. Also, what is the stock tooth number for the TE. I thought guys would go to a smaller front sprocket to get more torque.

for an 08 610 at least, stock sprockets are 15 and 45. I went to a 47 rear and think that gearing about about perfect.
