• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Braap? part two

I think a lot of the resistance is that many KTM guys bash there husky friends relentlessly and now this rebadging does not sit well with them.

Hey Kelly this isn't directed at you, but this is an interesting point. I ride both Husky and KTM, and have done so since I got my first of each: 1982 Husky 430 and then 1984 KTM 495. The most bashing I personally hear... is anti-KTM, right on this site. While CH is a fantastic and fun site, the brand bashing is the worst part by far. Get over it guys. Ride what you want to ride. And don't buy it if you don't like it. And quit bashing. Ugly Ugly Ugly. Now...

There was a white/blue "2014" Husky thumper on display at the Oakland supercross last weekend. Looked very nice. I don't personally care what it is or isn't similar too, it's a very nice dirt bike, and I'd feel privileged to have a bike that nice. The stumbling block for me is that it's not gonna be available in the U.S. until at least late Feb or March... or April. As a play rider in NorKal, the season is over by then. I'd not want to buy a "new" 2014 bike and not get to really ride it until everybody else's 2015's are out in the fall. I hope Husky will realign their release dates to match the rest of the industry. I'm thinkin' they're gonna have to if they want to start building sales. Can't sell a bike that's not available.

Good points but lets define bashing, as resistance and reaction to KTM wiping out the existing line and slapping stickers on KTMs is not really bashing. I for one don't feel I bash KTM at all. Do I like the direction KTM chose to take husky and eliminate one more choice in bikes? No. But do I say KTMs are crap? Absolutely not. I have MANY times stated I think they are great bikes and have proven themselves over and over at the very top level of racing. I think it is amazing what they have done with the brand and the marketing behind it. Am I sad there are no more husky 125 and X-lights? Absolutely. And, as I have stated many times my opinion means nothing, KTM bought husky and can do exactly what they want with it just like BMW and Cagiva before them. There are a few on here that legitimately hate KTM for whatever reasons and thats on them and there will always be that crowd. I see "I piss on FORD" or CHEVY or DODGE stickers on the backs of 4x4 trucks all the time. I don't really see that attitude here but by a few individuals. Many here own KTM or Bergs and we all seem to get along pretty good. That people are reacting to what feels like and is models of motorcycles they love ripped out from underneath them seems reasonable and will take some time to heal. In the end they are freaking motorcycles. A toy. Not going to change my life much if the husky name disappeared all together. I really think KTM will be huge for the name brand but I still miss some models I grew to love and understand over the years. Its not bashing its disappointment for whats gone.

BTW, I loved me a FE390 when those came out. Was trying to hock a husky or two to get one. Was an early release one I got to borrow for a three day weekend and WOW I was impressed. Loved how KTM let Berg do their own thing then.

If I have the spare cash someday, one of these will be in the stable. I've only have ridden the 450 and I think I'd still want a 390. Not the best bike for me in more technical riding, but as Paul Clipper described it in his Trail Rider Mag test... The perfect ISDE Special Test bike!. All the guys I know who rode and raced them, liked them, but weren't sad to see them go as race bikes and most went back to 2T bikes. They all said awesome trail bike, but not the right bike for racing east coast tight. Failed fuel pumps, boiling gas and a host of other little teething issues always kept me from laying out the big cash, for a bike that would only fit certain conditions, when I can get almost the same feel from my very inexpensive '93 Husky WXE350!

Maybe he's not that good or kinda dumb. I dono. I do like KTMs. They are awesome bikes but sheet man..do we all have to ride the same damn thing?

that would level the playing field for talent scouts, ever seen the redbull juniour race series? man those are such good races.

Well, spec racing is one thing..
Believe me, I tried so hard to get all my buddies to buy 250 GP 2 strokes for track days/racing, instead of the monstrous expensive 1000s and the like. They just couldnt see spending a couple grand on a little 2 stroke with no power. We wouldve had sooo much fun!

no power:eek: i would sell my kidney for one of those 2 strokers theyre mini monsters 140 bhp on a 80 kg bike. yup thats better then sports bikes in my opinion.

i like the look of the white 2014 bikes i just hope the 2015 models have a little more huskyheart in the mix.
dont see the problem with the take over, bergs are top of the ktm range.

dreaming and dreaming and dreaming and wake up that I will never have that level although aim for it :o

that guy is a class apart the last few years.

Now that is a cool pic. Talk about a view.... Wow!

After my experience with my Lemon of a WR 300, I broke down and bought a new bike it is a 14 model year TE250 Husaberg, no linkage but I have no problems with that for how I ride. Full Kreft suspension front and rear, It is awesome. I have never had a full race spec suspension before on any bikes and now I cannot see ever not. I also have the Kreft external power valve adjuster to tune the power valve by just a twist. My Sons WR 144 has been a pleasure and never given us a problem but the 300 has been a nightmare. I am very happy with my purchase.
