  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Brand New 2012 WR 300 came today-Newbie Alert

Short story is, bend the tab so that the floats are parallel to the bottom of the carb body when it's tilted just enough to hit the sprung tip of the needle.

My TMX was WAY off the way the bike was delivered. The fuel level was super high, so it would drip fuel if it was tilted just a little bit, and ran extra rich.

OK, thanks for that tip. I also noticed with mine that fuel had run outta the over-flow tube when i was removing my carb to check the jets. It didnt seem like i had tilted it the much at first to make this happen. And after reading your post a light went off in my head thinking--"maybe my float could also be out"

Few things added to the ride. Hyde skid plate/pipe guard, Fork bleeders and Rad guards.

Waiting for Stealer to get back to me about the intake rubber that was screwed up from factory. Hand guards and a rear disc protector are in the mail!

Once I get the new intake boot, I'll finally get a chance to start the bike....Good think its winter here and I have a bit of patience. :)

Pull the tires off and sell them on ebay and get yourself something that will grab. I couldnt ride my WR with the stock tires. They were horrendous!
Crikeys man youre gonna have this thing fully sorted/tricked out before you even ride it!

Really? I thought that I wouldn't like mine, but they seem to stick pretty well on rocks and hard slick dirt, plus they work good in mud and sand. Maybe the bike just handles so great that I can't tell that the tires are crappy.

Could be the difference in terrain. Im over in PA riding singletrack and coal areas. I had a hard time getting the front end to stay planted in ruts and the back end, despite all the complaints of a weak rear brake (which I dont necessarily agree with) the rear tire would like up and slide way too easy. I use the rear brake to steer alot in the trails.

I'll for sure give the tires a try. They look like they do fine, but looks dont count!!

What pressure did you run yours at----maybe to much air. I've found some tires run a lot better aired down a bit from what was suggested from the manufactures.

I ran them with Tubliss inserts at about 12-14 psi in the front and 11-12 psi in the rear

I loved the Tubliss setup but it was not reliable enough. I went to 4mm michelin tubes.

I found the front tire did pretty good in rocks and clay loam of the eastern Rockies. I use around 12 psi.

Yeah i'm pretty sure this will be way better then the Gas Gas.

Cant complain about the huskys price and i love the big size....fits me great.

Few new goodie added to the ride....Still haven't started it yet- waiting on new intake boots that was wrecked when the factory installed the carb.

Case saver.
Hand guards.
Read disc protector.
