As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
while short shifting and reving to the moon from stand still, my warning light came on and i lost power for a brief second. what gives?
No doubt, a tool move by me. However, last night was my first real deal ride since last year, so I was a bit zealous to say the leastHey, don't get me wrong, the bike has an awesome midrange. Pulls like a tractor in the middle. Just wish it did the same from bottom to mid. So I guess hitting the rev limiter, after exiting the freeway, between a stop sign and third gear is the result of that wish. Will be mindful and careful not to do that again though. Love this bike way too much to dog it out. If time and money allows, will try a tuner this season. Perhaps that'll give me the bottom end that I'm looking for.
I bought the bike in early 2011 from a dealer that had a few brand new 2009's. Changes to the bike so far are: seat concepts, hammerhead shifter, conti SM tires, iridium spark plug, power up mod, oury grips, ballistics lithium battery, auto up kick stand removal (LOL) and a leo V slip on. My gearing is stock. Also removed the heat shields and replaced them with exhaust wrap, cos the rear shield fell off. That's all I've done so far. Well that and oil and oil filter changes of course. So next performance mod would in fact be the JD tuner. Money is tight though, so we'll see. Thanks again. Love discussing this bike.
