• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Broken engine mounting plate 610

Spice Weasel

Husqvarna
AA Class
I was wondering where the rattling noise was coming from yesterday, found this this morning - IMG_1205.JPG
I dont think im that hard on my bike, least not as hard as you off road riders are on yours.
Must be flexy frames on these bikes.
I just made a steel copy to keep me going for now.

Is the original not steel?

I never thought to state where it came from on the bike  Its one of the front ones, behind the front wheel. Theyre 4mm aluminium.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what would be a good grade of aluminium to make some of these mounts from?

Perfect, thanks  ill get both plates out of a 100x150mm coupon of that
I can get them done without getting them too hot to touch

How many KMs does your bike have? I've seen that kind of damage on a 610 with a shot rod.

I dont think its frame flexing, more engine vibrations related. All other engine mounting bolts were tight? I have lost a few bolts and nuts in past...

Just got them finished this afternoon, took longer than i should have making them because i got a bit OCD getting them to match the originals, plus i wasnt in a great hurry to get them finished.
I just sawed the basic shapes out, removed the bulk of excess with a die grinder with carbide burr then finished of with files
