• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

That's awesome. I think I've seen a helmet cam of that trail going the opposite direction.

In a few weeks we (including you) will be riding this...

Of course, everything looks easier on film so I'd save final judgment for when I got there, but it's totally doable (obviously, as people are doing it).

i think the helmetcam perspective exaggerates the exposure. in the very few scenes where you see another rider, it doesn't look like he's squeezed too tight. Also, even tho dave w (the cameraman) is a better rider than all of us, he's also a pretty smart and conservative rider, and since he's hauling azz in some of those sections, i expect it must not be as dicey as it looks. I'll hopefully let y'all know tuesday, if I make it back alive.

It looks a little interesting to me. But I'd give it a whirl. I'll post a clip later of section of the Overwitch trail here in the bitterroots. It has a section of switchbacks that look almost as steep but I know they're not that bad. So I think the wide angle exaggerates a little bit. It even makes me look better!!

Awesome video! I was finally able to sit down and watch it. I'd need a new set of drawers after a few of those sections. On my mountain bike, no problem. On my TE, forget it!

Not a huge deal, but the intent of:

Get togethers & Ride Reports Bike riding related...

Is to have real rides & real events that the members participate in, so they can be planned & shared.

As opposed to general riding videos found on youtube and other places.

I will merge this with the other thread, and move it into the General forum. I did not know that Seymores video was not of him earlier.

Get togethers & Ride Reports -> General.

Ok you woods guys HAD me convinced to give the woods a try....now I am to scared. You guys are NUTS!!! Awesome video thanks for sharing and scaring me LOL. I would fish that river.

Seymore I think you guys have gotten trail riding and rock climbing mixed up. Probably a good idea if you guys all wore climbing harnesses, were all roped together and hammered some protection into the wall. I couldn't watch but about five minutes, but thanks for the video.

WR Bob

I think I would have more fun getting tazed while siphoning gas then I would riding these trails.

Tresa and I rode that trail sunday with some friends. I'll post pix in a little bit.

That did not look like fun. I had rather go a little faster on some wider trails. A trip through that river looked fun.

Really a great video! Just no time to look at the scenery til you stop.

Riding that kind if terrain on horseback is exciting till you get accstomed to it. What I never got used to though was riding country like that on a dark night, because if you try to use any kind of light it will blind the horse or mule. The animals can see fine but the rider is left in the dark.
