• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

buying bikes...wins and losses.... (typing fest)

don't tell me that, I had nearly forgotten about it!
I bought an xl 175 orange tank model for 300 bucks once. had a nice pipe on it and koni shox, ran well was pleased as the going rate was $600+ . I thought I had done a good job talking him down. I heard on the grape vine that the guy was bragging how he had ripped "some sucker" for a total sh*tbox.. I then found all the engine mounts were broken:eek:. I ripped the motor out, ol mate the panel beater oxyed them all up for 20 bucks and i flogged the crap out that bike for two years before selling it for 500 so I think I won there. Was a great little bike, had a ball on it. put ATF in the forks and a few coins to add some preload, the Konis were well matched to my weight and it sounded so good and revved to the moon.... just what a 16 y/o needed for blasting about the bush:thumbsup:

At the dawn of the current 4t era I jumped on XR250s and did well enough in HS and Enduro to get some shop support. My first A race I tweaked my good knee and was out for months. At the same time my biz partner got married and flaked on me. I sold everything and bought this old place in the boonies.
My racing bud bugged me all winter, then showed up in the spring with bikes on the trailer. He had an old '85 XR350 that was custom from end to end. We rode all weekend and I was hooked. He said I could get it for $1000, no way, but sure enough. The owner was in a bind and I got it. The bike was immaculate. I checked every bolt and bearing and didn't have to fix anything. It had the entire XRs Only catalog thrown at it, plus custom suspension, new wheels, built motor, everything! I raced that bike for a year with absolutely no issues. What a beast!
Then I was getting married, farming and contracting and decided to sell and settle down for a while. After a month of no sale I loaded it up and went to the local Honda shop. I was buying oil and talking it up with the parts guys, they had a look and blah blah. When I went to leave there was a guy standing next to my truck looking at the bike. He said, "that's a great bike" I said, "it's for sale, $2000" Sold!
