• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi. a noise has quickly appeared; deffo from camchain area arond the tensioner and evident at idle. i assumed it was the face of the slider etc. so i have started process and taken tensioner off (first time i have seen one off etc) and is it right? the adjuster turns happily in and out etc and therefore seems okay. when the lock bolt is replaced the adjuster has about 1/4" totally free play without any tension...?
i have dismantled further to find a small rectangular rubber on outside of body which has a little right angled piece of sprung steel...? when inside another sprung steel piece is evident...

as i have not seen a good tensioner can anyone illluminate.. manual just says "load the spring.. torque ie fit and then release said spring" erm

any comments much appreciated as its dark here

Not sure if its the same as newer 610 CCT, but if it is you need to remove spring before you take the CCT off the head. APEracing makes a nice manual one. I would ask around the threads for older model 610s. You can really F@&? Things up if its not done right.

ahem..erm oh fear. seen the ape on ebay..wikk ask etc.what F@&? are encountered?
tks...methinks its the small 'sprung' steel bit/s a faukt, perhaps a breakage...

well i have managed to repair until i aquire a new one [on its way], i may even run it for a while to see if repair...
The internal spring had snapped in two places 1 where spring tab located in a hole in the tensioner body 2 where the spring tabbed to the adjuster in the body etc. marvelllous just made new tabs accordingly from length of coil left!!

does anyone have advice as to refitting said tensioner?

If its the same as the later one, you install on jug with tension arm all the way in (back) then put the spring in and cap with bolt.

does not sound right....jug? rension arm? spring in? a self-adjusting unit.. no 'arm' or spring to put in.. springs hidden in body etc
