• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I might be stuck with a te511.........and the bike is new......green oil all over the floor........should i do anything??????????? maybe I should take air filter out and wring it out?????/

Surely you aren't serious? You complained about not having a manual come with the bike when you bought it. Tinken told about the owners manual on the usb stick, you said it was useless as you cant take it out with you when you change the oil, so what use is a youtube video :excuseme:

Tinken gave you a link to the workshop manual, read the manual, the steps for changing the oil and air filter are clearly and simply explained, with pictures! If you can't follow those simple procedures, then don't go anywhere near your bike with tools as when you stuff it up you will be back here crapping on the bike again saying it's the bikes fault you broke it.
Take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Amen to that..... If your not handy with tools then pay some one who is handy.... You will do more harm then good playing with stuff that's out of your league....

I tried to go to dealer , but he refused to help............so that is good advise. I tried to print off the 400 pages of the manual on my computer. but the ink dried up.......please note that when I bought the ktm 690 they did give me a manual.......I think its best since Im stuck with the 511 (don't get me wrong its a good dirt bike /useless at highway speeds).....to take it to a local mechanic and have him change the oil and to fix the green oil that is leaking all over the bike.........tinken will not speak to me anymore............he did suggest the 690ktm and I appreciate that , I did buy one and im basically happy with the bike..........im sorry im not a mechanic type person......would be nice to have a utube video as im a visual person to see the steps though............im not crapping anything except to say husky promotes the te511 as a dual sport. and wheres the dual in that bike? dirt/dirt? and I crap the dealers who just want to sell anything to anybody...........some dealers are not forthright..............I have no crapping the te 511 other than that .......I haven't ridden the 511 now cause i cant figure out how to stop the greenoil leak........and i don't know how to change the oil.........I have my ktm now which does what it advertises. and I tend to ride that one...........

Amen to that..... If your not handy with tools then pay some one who is handy.... You will do more harm then good playing with stuff that's out of your league....
im going to take it to a mechanic who will fix green oil leak and change oil......I will ask the mechanic about the bike (giving objective opinion ) and I will post his results here. thanks for advise......

p. s. wouldn't it be nice if I actually had a husky dealer who would help me get started on the bike? would a ktm dealer do that courtesy? im sure im going to get kicked off this site soon. but at least I spoke the truth.......I can sleep with that. I would prefer to stay on this site though as I am being forced to keep the 511 and after I get the green oil leak fixed and oil changed I will ride the bike on gravel and give you my report of the bike......as I see it.

when I bought my te610 new. I got a manual.....and I changed the oil with no problem .........and even the air filter I cleaned too. it was very descriptive in the manual.....now with the te511 you get a red stick thing you plug into computer.........the manual is 400plus pages........and I dont know how to print only one page of the oil change procedure. ican only print off the whole manual.........I tried that and my printer broke and ink went out......I will try to fix it.....and reprint........wouldnt it be better just to give the customer a hard copy manual????????? maybe charge 10 dollars more for the bike and just give the customer a manual? maybe corporate can read this and do that next year? lets all help each other out here to progress forward. im not here to piss.im here to learn and help others....

Page 11 shows air filter removal. The green oil is excess filter oil.
after downloading your file. ( I think it was safe to do that? .............an older husky bike came up at ensinadas surf shop.......didn't see anything about an air filter...........is corporate listening here...????????? am I the only one that thinks giving a manual via a red stick thing is lame????????? why not consider giving at least a mini manual hard copy with bike with the basics??????????? oil change for instance??????????wouldn't that be good customer service???????????? AGAIN, once I fix my computer , from breakage due to the weight of printing off the 400 plus page manual, I will try to figure it out......not everybody is a mechanic nor a computer wiz........but hey, if they would have given me written instructions on how to change the oil with the bike I probably would have figured it out.........I can see now I might be a bit too objective for this site?

thanks though for trying........again. I state.......I would like to have the oil change directions without downloading 400 plus pages........just the facts maam........

I can see now I might be a bit too objective for this site?

Yes, I'm sure that is it.

my dad used to not allow me to use the words whatever...........to him those words really mean.........I DONT CARE

I think that is what he is saying. As are most of the rest of us at this point.

Many people have tried to help you and you just run over that info and piss people off to the point where they do not talk with you. You have been asked repeatedly to type coherent sentences so as not to make such a mess everywhere you go. Your rambling senseless posts are goofy, unproductive and impossible to read. You tried to print 400 pages to see two items of info. I would explain how to print 1 or 2 pages but I believe it might be lost on you. (see prompt option to say what page you want to print man, it couldn't be more simple) Tinken gave up on you, woodchick is tired of your rambling posts and disregard for coherent sentences, I am done trying to help. You will get little help for this great site at this point and I see your rambling mess is getting you in trouble on other sites. I was trying to help as first but you just ramble on. Just like Tinken and several others i am done with you. Learn to use your "too objective for this site" to understand what we have told you repeatedly and then take a second to write some real sentences with real questions and thoughts. Otherwise I'm sure your time here is very short because you have many very messy threads and we here are not into that as you have been warned many times.

I'm heading out to ride, I hope you sort your bike and posting issues out, if not I hope your gone by the time I get back as I am tired of this mess.

better, just post the two pages here if you REALLY want to help........

Take your tools out and start taking it apart little by little. Then put it all back the same way you took it apart. That is how you learn to work on your bike. That is how I learned at 12yrs old, no help from Dad just me and tools. That old Steen always ran with all kinds of rigging and was never at a shop.

again I repeat I tried to print the 400 plus pages of the manual to get the oil change directions to take to my bike like I do my 610 (the oil change instructions for that bike come in manual with the bike) unfortunately the printer printed from the end of the manual forward and the printer broke down before the oil change instructions were printed out.......I need to go get a new ink cartridge now........It would be helpfui if someone would print off the two or so pages of the oil change instructions though here. as i might be able to print from here??????? not sure/..............I think its best just to take bike to a local mechanic and just pay him to do it though........i hope next year husky will consider giving oil change instructions in hard copy with the bike when sold.....IS THAT REASONABLE?
