• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

can anybody u tube thier next te511 oil change/air filter cleaning?

thanks I just went to town to buy a new ink cartridge.....hopefully I can figure out how to print the manual from the spot I went dry in ink on the last try......if it starts from the end and goes forward again I might run out of ink before I get to the part about changing oil...........at some point maybe you will understand what im getting at here....withh alot of these posts.......ive already spoken about the dual sport controversy.......that's old news.......but I do think its a valid concern that I have to be a computer expert to get the manual to be printed.........I dont usually sit at computers.....but to get that 511 going with no dealer support. I need to be online to try to figure out how to proceed....it took me awhile........but with help here I did finally get the power up plug working .........my beef is that no manual is provided with bike other than the very basics......and not everybody is computer savvy.........so I will continue to try to figure out how to print the manual...........I m not helpless. when I had a good pic of the power up plug procedure I did it with no problem at all..............now I need to try to figure out oil change.......how I did it on my old te is to take the manual to the bike and go thru the steps.......so im trying to print off the 400 plus page manual here so I can do the same......somehow im having trouble printing off one or two pages.......my printer seems to want to print the entire manual only......that is not victim. its Husqvarna not thinking things out.........by putting the oil change procedure in the quick manual..............people say im negative.....I see it the other way.......their might be many people who want such a bike but because its made difficult they don't take the plunge....im actually helping husky ...........for next year.........

I don't know who you are micfasto. but you saved me. I was just spending over an hour trying to figure out how to make the magic red pin work...........totally confusing and you mailed me this............YES that's what I needed......you are telling me this should have come with bike??? it didn't........that is all I wanted.......a basic manual........I couldn't believe that husky would expect people to print out the basics.....that's crazy.....nuttier than me.......

all I can say is I hope corporate is listening here.....if they want newbies to come to the sport and their cycles.......MAKE IT EASY ..............I could care less that others think im needy............yes im needy in getting the basic info......now I have these magic 50some pages. with all I need to know ....thanks for stepping up micfasto.........you just gained a trophy from me. now it look fairly easy although it would have been nice to tell me what size wrench. but shouldn't be to diffucult to put some metric wrenchs on the bike to find out........EVEN THOUGH NOBODY ACKNOWLEGES IT.......THIER ARE A TON OF PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO FEEL STUPID ABOUT THIS STUFF WHO WOULD COME TO THE SPORT IF THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE ENUF........husky usa could do that if they wanted to..........gee maybe theyre sales numbers would go up?

thanks micfasto. for sending me the basic manual that should have been put into my packet when I bought the bike.........i didn't get one........so I had to go thru alot of hell.......and loss of many potential allies here......maybe corporate will listen? give people that manual**************************************** thanks for stepping up micfasto..........I was just at my computer for an hour trying to get the magic red pin to work somehow when u sent me this manual I was supposed to get with the bike new but didn't.......dont know who dropped the ball. I guess the dealer who has the restraining order against me.?

that is what the dealer told me.anyway. he said he has applied for a restraining order........Im not sure if he actually did it though......
needless to say I cant get warranty work done now..........hope that 511 works good in the long run. im going out right now to do a further gravel road shootout........test ........ktm 690 versus 06 te610 versus 13 te511..........I will post my results........don't worry I need to accept i have the bike....make the most of it.......I dont want anything to do with that dealer anyway.......no loss.

You are welcome. That link I posted is directly from Husqavarna's web site and is on the USB drive ("red pin") that came with the bike.

I do not have a 449/511 or I could tell you the wrench sizes. But I am sure you can figure it out.

My 2012 310 came with a paper manual not sure if 2013 449/511s still come with paper copy or not.

For some reason I thought we'd moved on Yogi.
But like RR used to say, "oh there you go again".

Damn dude......my 14 yo daughter can change the oil on her bike!! I bet she could change the oil on my old TXC 449. It's not that hard! If ya can't fix em......don't ride em!

This is painful to read. Not sure if dude got it figured out and at the risk of embarrassing myself for being a nice guy (pushover) I actually went out
to the garage and snapped some pics for dude (btw, Yogi, is that you in your avatar ?).
Seriously, I think you should probably look into a different hobbie but if you can afford a Husky, KTM and whatever else then lucky you.

Good stuff Jerbear! That's pretty close to the manual that he has, and he still couldn't work it out! Pretty simple to change the oil in those bikes.
Unfortunately some people are their own worst enemy and are beyond help!
I suggest NO ONE buy a used 511 from the Des Moine Iowa area

I bet he would of asked, "how the hell do i get the filter in there when that round thing with the funny shape in the middle of it is in the way! these bikes are ridiculous! i hope corporate is listening" :banghead::banghead:

Thank you very very much Jer Bear.

And with that excellent contribution, I will assume this threads question/topic is answered. I do not want to re-visit threads like this years from now, so I will close it.
