Can the sixth gear from the TE be added to the tranny of a TC 449?

I miss my TXC 449. I am finding lots of used TC's for low prices. I believe the TXC 449 was a TC with a sixth gear and 18 rear ?

More than likely you would need to swap gear sets, shift drum and shift forks to make it work.

I would contact Tinken directly. There was a thread about it. Some went with a wide ratio bmw transmission.

NO. Sold it the week after our Tillamook ride. Thought I was done riding for good. Took the next 5 mths off to heal and it did not make a difference. Couldn't stand or justify not riding so I bought the 2nd best bike I ever had and bought a left over 13 TXC 310. It is dialed in and it rocks ! The only thing about the 350 that is better is the tranny when you get on the roads.
Will be looking for a TE or TXC 449 for my dualsport ride. Bills has a 12 TXC 511 for cheap

I bought the 2nd best bike I ever had and bought a left over 13 TXC 310. It is dialed in and it rocks ! The only thing about the 350 that is better is the tranny when you get on the roads.

Very interesting. what was your number 1 bike? the 449?

If I had to have one it would be the 449. The 310 rules Tahuya! You don't know how good the CTS is until you don't have it

You would have to basically swap out the entire gear set, plus other parts. It would be cheaper/better to add the BMW transmission than to try to put a TXC/TE 6 speed in.

How much is the BMW tranny install ? Or should I just try to find a TXC 449 or TE 449. I found the stock tranny on the 449 sufficient for what I needed

After reading that thread. Sounds like putting the BMW 5 speed in is the way to go ?

Unless you are going to do a lot of DS with the bike I'd just ride it as is.
