• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

carb tuning wr250 83 please assist?

i still did not see what you have for a slide.i got a 1983 cr 250 and it would not rev ou at all.it was a Dog with a capital D.had a 2.0 slide ,tried a 2.5 and that was better but it was still not close enough to want to ride it.went to the 3.0 and it was now close enough that i could at least start to play with the p.jet and m.jet size and needle position.dan

your Alt is pretty close to sea level, 450 feet pretty low, i would look in the tech section of this site, find the manual for the 83 250. and look at the stock settings, they are set at sea level,
id match them to the number, from the slide, to needle, main and pilot.
and adjust accordingly..
look close at the parts when you remove them, not un common for a Carb to worn out on a 83 vintage motorycle,
look for chrome plating rubbing off the slide, and other wear points.
clean air cleaner, with a little air filter oil, clean pipe assembly, and make sure the intake spigout is not cracked and in good shape, and the screws are tight.

manual

i have been loking for the manual for carb set up for 250 83 but cant seem to find it please can you locate it for me ? thanks:thumbsup:

sorted it out all out! lovely ride now! she nearly had me off . great fun . all i did was move the clip up 1 notch to number 3 . was on number 2 . thanks all . now i have got to clean it up . well happy

just to say its a 2.5 throttle slide. and have no airbox lid . and proform 1 maico silencer . perfect jetting .

I used to have an 84 CR250 and I would guess that the jetting should be very similar between this and your 83 bike. I ran a 400 main in mine and it ran fantastic. No problems with fouling and nice crisp response.

I cannot recall the other jet sizes.

84 CR250, liquid cooled and a flatslide? LC engines had alot different porting and seem to have leaner settings that the air cooled engines. My old 87 430XC had the same jetting as my 82 CR250?

im going to get a COLOURTUNE KIT. they come in diffrent sizes 10mm 14mm etc. think i need 14mm . has anyone used these ? thanks

Here is a place that can do dyno runs and jetting on MX bikes:

http://www.mxzone.co.uk/

Looking at their website their prices are pretty good. Might be worth the money to get it set up just right.

thanks for that murph!. its a bit too far from me tho mate . ill have a look for local one to croydon . happy new year .

My mate had his TM done there and it sorted his bike a treat, saved a fortune on pistons

i would like to take it there. but have no way of transporting it . how much does that service cost ?

They are charging 70 quid to set up your jetting according to their website. That is cheap. You can spend a fair bit on jets and bits and pieces if you are not careful and still end up no better off if you try doing this yourself.
