• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cat----

I don't know but I doubt he did... I didn't. I'd be concerned 'bout losing low end torque. As a not-so-good test I suppose you could pull the mufflers & see how it runs though.

runs great without the mufflers lost no bottom end but was so loud that it rattled my inner ears as if i was at the drag races...didnt keep me from making a run up hwy 38 to Big Bear though. didnt ride through town didnt want a ticket.

I removed my cats and baffles and just got back from a test ride. Seems to run good and is quite a bit louder. I'm going to use some metal screen material for a spark arrester.

Did you use the same method as NYCMX for the cat removal? Do I need special drill bits or just a lot of patience? Did you wear a mask (because don't those things contain lead) ?? Is it messy? Sorry for all the Q's, I have a much lesser workshop area since moving into a retirement village.

No sweat Steve. Special tools are not needed. I used a drill, hammer, chisel, and a large flat head screwdriver. It took me about two hours total from disassembly. A lot of patients is definately needed. I wore a N95 respirator (you can get these at any hardware store). I recommend doing this in a well-ventilated area.

I have ridden without the baffles for about a 1000 miles and the bike runs ok, some lean popping on decel but not horrible. Now the bike seems to pop worse since I have gutted the pipe and I feel no performance gain. If anything I feel a little less torque down low as expected. I got tired of burning the hell out of myself on the pipes and figured I would try this to let the pipes breathe better and hopefully result in a cooler pipe. Nope, it still burns like napalm on your nutz. I know the bike needs the fuel mixture fattened up and that would help bring the exhaust temps down as well. Any other ideas?
