  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

charging problem? 09 te 450

any help out there ..Here is my problem .battery volt 12.5 not running.Tells me battery is good.13.6 running at idle.Also good ,that is with headlight unplugged,plug it in it drops to 12.4.the main problem is on 20 mile run in woods it will die.Today in woods I unplugged it got home and battery was now good.I did have the dealer look at it but they said it was the battery.it was not ..Does this mean I cant expect to have a headlight and expect to use the e start??Any body have same ..Bike has just 100 miles Thanks
 
Doubtful its the battery. I would look to the electrics starting with the stator. I think the Ibeat appraoch makes sense-see what the engine is punching out first. Don't let the dealer fob you off.

I should add when rpm comes up it does put out 14.6 .I dont know how that cant keep battery charged.But it wont crank over after 20 miles or so in woods.Mabey 5 restarts during ride .Bike has been stepped up to make run better but did this before that too...It now runs about perfect very happy in general with bike but at 42 I really dont like to kick her over after a long nasty ride ..Thanks guys
 
Just so it gets answered: I have the same bike without the problem (09TE450)- I even have a higher watt headlight- I have run the bike with the headlight on and the fan running constant for 4 hour periods of time. No issues. The charging system on these- if 100%- are very good. I would check all connections- and test the stator.

So the Ibeat voltage? is that simular or the same as taking voltage from the regulator?
 
Do you have a kick-starter on this Husqvarna \ cagiva engine? Or were you left stranded deep deep n the woods ? :) ... Maybe you can describe the feeling U felt when the magic button lost its magic :) ... :)
 
To respond ,yes it has a kickstart

I unplugged headlight and it kicked over and ran fine.I will have dealer look at it soon ,they have been good about it,but does anyone know when the reflash will be available in Mass.They have it for the te250 now.. would like to wait and get them done at same time Thanks for responce .

Just wondering is the reflash out yet for 450,,They do have the 250 reflash at my dealer in Mass, like to get that done at same time.For now I will run without headlight,dont ride at night that is unless i get lost bad.. Thanks guys
 
there's no reflash of the ecu for the 09 450- there was one for the early 2008's. There's the ones for the 2010 250's but that is a totally different machine.

The 09TE450 is fine- no need to reflash. That' said you can always have it hooked up to Ibeat and tweak CO settings if need be. Once you have your elecrtrical issues worked out things will be different. Good luck with the dealer!
