  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Chattering From Engine in 6th Gear, Dunno what is going on

Wow October. I didn't think it would be that long of a wait. It would be nice if someone has tried these out.

Can someone explain to me what is special about these sprockets? I see they use ceramic ball bearings, but I don't understand their function...

Its to lessen the stress on the drive train when you shift and/ or gas it. Kind of adds a little suspension between your motor and the road.

"Kushsprockets" backed up the delivery date by one month from Oct 10th shipping to Nov 10th shipping and gave me a 30% refund so that's decent. I'm far more interested in knowing how they work and if they have them de-bugged then getting it too soon. As far as I'm concerned, they can take their time, discount my purchase a few more times ... and ship the real thing!

That sucks, I wish I had ordered mine already. I want 30 off. But my bike is still in pieces so I figured why bother. Thanks for the update.

Just because you find a few teeth off the gears does not mean that the issue is gear cog related. Until you pull the top end and split the cases you won't really know for sure what happened inside. Other hard objects floating around in the lower-end can jamb and cause what you have found stuck to the drain plug.

Best of luck getting it back up and running.

The engine is completely torn down and unfortunetly has been for about a month now. Everything was spotless except 6th on the main shaft. Believe me I wish something else had done the damage, probably would make me feel better. Looks like tomorrow the gear will be showing up at my house, so I can finally ride.

Well this week I got my Kush Sprocket from AU and it looks like the old style one that failed. I'll email Ryan and see if he did anything to the bonding process to make this one work. I thought they we changing the design to enclose the rubber dampers but this one is in plain steel and fully exposed.

Notice that they are using a pin in the casing to hold the rubber dampers in place?

We have almost 6 feet of snow and I have 4 ribs that are broken so I won't be able to test this thing out for a few weeks!

Anyone else get one of these?

Is that new it looks like it is showing signs of rust already, and did you say you already had 1 of these fail?

The sprocket is brand new, I haven't had the chance to install it, and, we have 7 feet of snow so I'll have to wait for others to test it and get back to us. I started another thread called "Kush Sprockets" which deals with this new version of the sprocket and it will have a review by one of our members in the weeks ahead.

The previous design failed due to production problems like a bad adhesive and dirty manufacturing conditions. There is no sign of rust nor do I think it will rust due to the coating and material used.

This is a new sprocket and is supposed to have cured those issues mentioned above. It does look like it might work this time around. Check out my other thread for more information!
