  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Cheep quick throttle mod (449/511). You'll be amazed!

I bought a quick throttle for my trials bike for about $35 https://secure.rypusa.com/prodpage.cfm?cat_selected=119&product_selected=159&startrow=1 The black one is slow and the white one is fast.

I would like to do the same for my 09 WR250 because as a tall rider it is impossible for me to get wide open from a standing position unless I get a different grip which makes it really easy to get whiskey throttle when sitting. I have a Lectron on my bike and as soon as I find out mm of travel on the carb I will call Motion Pro and find out if they sell what I'm after.

I always have one or two fingers covering the clutch but from years of experience fabricating and setting up race cars there is no way I would ride a bike with a cut up rubber grommet in the throttle housing. If you leave it in there long enough it will try to bite you and Murphy's law will make it happen at the worst possible time. Also putting lube in your throttle housing other than dry graphite or possibly a drying silicone is a no no. It will collect dust and gum up or worse yet decay your rubber grommet to goo at which time you will be saying hello to Murphy and that dang law of his.

Kevin at Lectron called me back within 10 min of me sending my email. Gotta love that! He recommends the Magura 314 which has a dual cam and can be switched from fast to slower in minutes. I does require a different cable than stock.

I have that one i got from them. It is really big and might cause issues with levers and such and is all plastic which kinda scares me. Its good but thought you might want to know.
