  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Clutch Options 08 TE450

Pete

Husqvarna
AA Class
The wife's 08 te450 has worn out clutch inner and outer basket. Both are heavily notched and when the bike is running you cant select first. If you pull up in first with the bike running its almost stalling.

When i take the cover off and operate the clutch the plates are very sticky.

I have been quoted $1100 for the outer basket and $200 for the inner. Suuuurrely there is some alternatives that dont cost as much.

I was gonna switch to rekluse cos it includes the inner basket, but with the outer basket so worn i am not sure thats a great idea.

What are the alternatives to original Huksy parts, some clutch bits appear to be branded cagiva, would this give me a cheaper way to replace the baskets?

Ask motorsportz nicely for a recluse  your wife will love it , i filed my outer basket with a smooth file until the notches weren't so bad  worked a treat , that was 2000kms ago and still it's working fine .

You can also use CRF 450 honda clutch plates in these bikes as well about $80 instead of husky genuine where you have to buy the steels and fibers as well for about $320 .

Go to the barnett clutch website http://www.barnettclutches.com/prod...hes_other&clutch_make=Husqvarna&clutch_cc=450

and search the model of your husky , get the part numbers , then search CRF 450 honda until you find the same part numbers , then order the cheapest ones available as they range from $80 up to $200 i think i got dunlop or a well known name to be safer .

Someone used to repair clutch baskets by machining the fingers and instlalling stainless steel inserts to bring it back to spec.
