  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc Clutch slack after Rekluse install on WR150

I got in a lot of riding over the last few days, and the rekluse works great! I had it at the track and then yesterday did 30kms of technical single track with a LOT of logs to go over so that was a good test. Even a few hillclimbs I did where I was sure I would need to use my clutch, I didn't, it lugged up with enough power. Very pleased, and thanks for the tips on here, and if anyone is installing one, the rekluse tech support is also really helpful :)

John did you get your EXP yet? I just installed mine yesterday after I finished putting the top end back together. I put the wrong thickness base gasket in and had to rip it back apart again.:banghead: I havnt had a chance to ride it yet but it idles nice when in gear and with just a little blip of the throttle it seems to grab right away. I cant wait to go try some impossible hill climbs out back!
 
No I'm still waiting :(. I heard Rekluse tell the guy I ordered it from that it's not in stock but they would still have it shipped in a week which I think was yesterday. If you don't mind keep me posted on how it works. Good luck with the top end job.

Just wanted to update you on the EXP. Install was a snap. Used four OEM steel and fiber plates with the EXP on top. Adjusted out cable slack and fired it up to perform the final adjustments. First thing I noticed is that just blipping the throttle is gear makes the bike lurch forward. This made me quite happy as I wanted the clutch to engage fully at a lower RPM. Our next race is a real nasty rock run that will require me to use more of the low end torque and not rev out the motor. I left the springs in that Rekluse sent the unit with. So far I think I will keep it that way. I didnt get to ride around too much or too hard because of just finishing a top end rebuild. That being said I think the EXP is ten times better than the Revloc I had before. I barely used that because I couldnt stand the way it engaged. I think this was mainly due to me buying it used and maybe it was worn out. I might go and mess with Walts power valve springs again. With the new KTM Fatty pipe I might like a different set up. Right now I am running the stock / silver combo. Hopefully you will get yours soon. I had to wait for a couple months but doubt that will be the case with yours. Let me know what you think.
 
Thanks for the update. Mine shipped from Rekluse last thursday so I should get it tomorrow or wed. LOL right now my bike is down I just sent the suspension out today for a full re-valve re-spring. That will take two weeks or so at least so you will have time to get yours completely dialed in and give me the scoop. LOL I'll take all the help I can get. I'll let you know how mine works out and after installing the Rekluse Pro on my 07 Honda 450R I don't think (fingers crossed) the EXP will give me any problems now that the correct number of disc/plates are required. Thanks again for your input.
 
Got my EXP and installation was a snap just like you said. BTW they did update the install sheet to show 4 steel and 4 friction disc.. I also left the springs as shipped in it (med. set up) until I can actually test it. Right now my suspension is off to NC for a full re-spring/re-valve job. My frame is off for power coating. I also have new tires, grafix, and an air filter on the way. I can't wait to get it all back together and test everthing out on my 08 CRWB165 :D.
 
Nick my bike is still waiting on the suspension to get back (slow shop), once it does I'll let you know what I think.
 
I just installed mine about a month ago and used it at the first race last weekend. I will be posting a race report shortly but long story short the Exp clutch is definitely worth the money. The race was nothing but a 5 mile loop of rock with some mud and exposed roots thrown in for good measure. I have a 165 and the Rekluse really let's me use the lugging bottom end. I'm not sure how it would feel on the 144 though.
 
I had the dynaring before the Rekluse. I don't know if the dynaring was worn out or something (i bought it used) but the Rekluse is far superior. I'm not trying to sell you on Rekluse evn though the dynaring is no longer available. All I know is that I have used both in the same bike and the Rekluse was much better. I don't know what the difference is.
 
I am leaning toward making the purchase. I think it would be nice for the extensive use of the clutch in our bikes.
 
Have you ever used a automatic clutch before? Some people just don't like them. If you do make the purchase I doubt you will be disapointed. If you don't like it you can send it back to Rekluse within thirty days for a refund. Can't really lose. Unless of course you love it......then your out $400!
 
No, I am new to the rekluse. I really haven't read a bad thing about them, yet. I guess I just have to pony up some $!!!
 
Do you think you could get away with a 2 finger clutch lever and a left hand rear brake with the EXP?

The exp makes the clutch pull quite a bit stiffer. That being said the only time I used the clutch lever at the race was when starting in gear or when I crashed and wanted to keep the motor revving so it wouldn't stall. I think you would be fine with a two finger clutch lever.
 
It's well worth the $ for it, I rarely use the clutch now, just for getting revs up sometimes, and helps with wheelies. Bottom end has really improved since I put the rekluse in as well, crazy what this bike lugs up (I have the 144). I have done 3 races on it now and it has really helped. Highly recommend it :) And true if you put it in and don't like it, they guarantee it!

Question... others with it, does your oil go blacker now with the rekluse? I am running the rotella oil they recommend, and same as before the rekluse, change it every two rides usually, or one race, and it's quite black... just normal with clutch plate slippage?

I will be changing my oil for the first time since the Rekluse install. I will let you know what it looks like.
