• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Come Ride the 2014 Curly Fern Enduro in Shamong, NJ!!!

Awesome!!!

I was able to make it out to Pines by midday. Put bit over 30 miles on the bike. I was exhausted and took nice spill in the whoops toward the end of the day. Bike ran awesome and recluse was a huge help.

Next upgrade, steering damper.

Ps.
I don't understand how you can ride 80 mile in one day.. I was exhausted.

Not sure a steering dampener is going to help much hitting whoops, it's is designed to prevent the quick deflection of your handlebars, I always found they are most effective in rock, where your bars are bouncing side to side hitting them. If you don't have your sag set, that is where you should certainly start, also the right springs for your weight, front and back will cost less then a dampener and be a far better investment. Sending the forks and shock out for a proper tuning by a suspension shop will do wonders for you. In the NJ area you have a few shops with great experience with the type of riding in the area.. I had mine done by Solid Performance in Downingtown Pa. I have been nothing but 100% pleased with the outcome. There is WER (Works Enduro Rider) and a few others too.

Joe, you and your fellow clubmates did a great job putting this race together, especially given the restrictions imposed by the NJ DEP. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

The morning sections was one of the most relentless starts to an enduro that I have ever experienced. I think we went something like 35-40 miles without a reset? Some of the trail was typical whooped-out NJ fire cuts, but there was some really good trail mixed in there too. I was behind by a few minutes for a couple checks, and then I managed to get back on time and zero a few towards the end. The afternoon trail was great, you guys found some really good stuff to send us through. And, the little singletrack sections back by the hunting club was awesome, it was tight and slippery in spots, but it was a perfect change from all the fast woods trails we had been on.

I had a great day, ended up 3rd (I think) out of 20-30 riders in C.

So glad you enjoyed yourself.... I had the first section in the second half. Down the blacktop, down the sandy sand road through the 1st check and the next 3+ miles after it.
