    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Conteplating a new terra?

I have wanted a terra from day one. But then started reading about misc issues. All dont seem iike big deals with me, like water in swingarm and air box as they are seemingly fixable. BUT the one issue that would scare the heck out of me is the stalling. I do a lot of city riding and there are just so many clueless people out there that dont pay attention anymore. But some people have posted that stalling only happens to them when bike isnt warm. Once warmed up its fine. Someone want to clarify this for me? Also are arts for it available now? I also saw some posts where parts where backordered for weeks on end with nothing listed on parts fiches etc?

Theres a brand new by me they just marked way down and am oh so tempted right now.
 
I experienced the stalling issue initially, then had MOSS update and installed a Booster Plug. That was 12 months and 10000km ago and swear I haven't had a stall since. Probably using my Terra for more off road then they intended, but it is doing a great job, plus I'm loving it.
I put a prefilter in the air intake and seems to address the issue. Some will say it doesn't, but they also will offer a fairly simple solutiom, so win/win.
Buy it and I don't think you willl regret it! I don't :)
 
It is a great bike. Today I rode with friends to Tecate Mexico. All two lane highways, 445 miles round trip. Speeds were between 45 to 85 mph with mt21 tires. I averaged 55 miles per gallon. I had a great time. This bike is just fun to ride and does it all.
 
Do it man. I paid $6500 for mine and don't regret it one bit. In fact knowing what I know now I would have paid $8K. I installed the booster plug the day I bought it and haven't had any issues with stalling in about 13K miles.
 
I've never had any stalling issues, other then operator error. I enjoy the bike and have no regrets. Even with all the issues and it being a 1 year bike. There's a good support community. If you like doing your own maintenance and have the time, it should be no problem. Its good on the street and in the dirt. Gets you places like here.

Not sure where you're located but I just bought a 2014 Terra from KTM of Gresham, OR for $5999 OTD. I believe they still have one or two left - check Craigslist for Portland.

I just did the first oil change on the Terra at 200 miles -- no hiccups or stalling issues. I also have a 2013 Strada with over 3k miles. The Strada, an early production one, did have stalling and hiccup issues. A Wuka King spoofer cured it. I'm still getting 60 mpg with the Strada with the Wuka on a 16* temperature shift. I obviously really like these bikes -- I had many singles over the years -- just sold my XR650R last year -- The motor and suspension are great for the riding I do. I do have to put a taller seat and bar risers to make them work ergonomically for me -- it's well worth it.
 
Very good inexpensive (relatively) lightweight adventure bike. Need to address the airbox and stalling ASAP. Solutions are out there. Weight and suspension are the downfalls and thats what happens when you budget a bike. Very good mount for what it is.

All that said I rode a 2012 BMW F800 this weekend. I know it is 2x the money but for me was a much better bike. The motor was very nice, ran perfect and the bike was as good or better off road. Much better suspension. did not feel any heavier really (not sure what the weight difference is ???) As good as the motor was I was expecting more power though. Just food for thought.
 
I went this last saturday to buy a new left over Terra. It was advertised as 6499 on their website. They told me it was 6999 in person and their website was wrong. Then saw this 07 950 down the rd. It was 5700 miles on it and this other place let me have it for $6500 coincidently.
I took it for a test ride and fell in love. Gonna get a second set of rims with knobbies. Thing feels super super light light a ktm 500 on massive steriods. Not too buzy on freeway. Plan on farkling now
