  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Coolant?

I own a 2008 TE 250 and I have a question about how much radiator coolant it takes and has any one used EngaineIce?

I used Engine Ice in my TE, but don't remember how much it holds. One jug will fill it with some left over.

Engine Ice or PG 7th Gear is what I use. They're similar products.

Claims of this stuff to drastically lower operating temps are pretty overrated, though. If anything, if your engine is getting hot because you're spending too much time in one place (like in stop & go traffic), it seems to cool down quicker once you get moving again.

I can't confirm this behavior on my TE, but my sportbikes had digital temp gauges on them and it seemed to be the case.

I saw where Red Line's Water-Wetter is now available in a premixed coolant called SuperCool. I've used Engine Ice & Liquid Performance & I've always added a couple of caps of Water Wetter to the radiators....Something left over from some road racing I used to do, where coolant/antifreeze was not permitted so it was distilled water & Water Wetter...I was always impressed how good the H2O & WW solution was, then I read that Water Wetter enhances the cooling effects of glycol-based coolant/antifreezes and have been adding the WW for 3 -4 years now with great results, no puking out of my 4T that is properly jetted with an auto-clutch...which is a statement considering the enduro type wood I ride & the heat & humidity down South..... Of course I have friends that use 50% Prestone & 50% distilled water too....LOL
