• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I picked up my new 08' SM610 today! I'm following in the wide tire tracks of WoodsChick by trading the stock tires for a set of Kenda K270 dual purpose tires. My goal is to create a dual sport bike for the inseam challenged. I had a 45 mile ride home on the bike. My first impressions are great motor, bizarre kickstand and very interesting tires! This is a great bike and a great site.

Sounds great! I also want to get dual-sport tires for my SM, but I can't decide which tire to go with. What sizes did you choose? Will the 3.25-17 work in the front and the 4.6-17 in the rear, or would they be be too narrow? Be sure and post pics once you get your tires.

Welcome 'home' Strada. Where are you at exactly?

I have a bud with a super tricked out 610 who lives in Mills River. He's really into the SuperMoto thing. Are you turning yours into a dual-sport rather than keeping it SM?

Woo-hoo!! Congrats on the new bike, wncstrada

I haven't seen any K270's that will fit the 17" wheels, but there are other options out there.

Good luck and have fun with your new bike!

Thanks for the warm welcome! My goal is to use the bike more as a dual sport than a supermotard. We've installed Kenda K270 tires; a 5.10 on the back and a 4.60 on the front. I've only put about 75 miles on the bike so I'll reserve judgement on the front tire. I can say that the bike likes to go in a straight line! I'm still very interested in going with a 19" front wheel if I can do so while using the stock front brake rotor and caliper. My first job is to sell my existing bikes to finance the project. Pictures attached (I hope!) Here we go!

wncstrada,

It really looks great with the new tires. My dad ran a rear tire on the front of his bike once, and it also wanted to go in a straight line--didn't corner too well, so I'll be interested in your thoughts once you have more time on the bike. I really like the idea of a 19" front wheel, because there'd be lots of tire choices in that size. I think it would look good too. Making it work with the stock brake might not be possible though. It barely clears the spokes with the 17" wheel. I'll be keeping an eye out for your posts though, in case you decide to do the conversion.
