• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Motors swap too ;)

I get where this post was going with the Austrian looking bike but it's not even a 2st lol

that's been a question in my mind (I figured they would have the same mount points) so the chassis are the same even the mount points, makes big time manufacturing sense.

You trying to set a record for most husky gunsight logos on a single bike or something? haha Bike is looking good. :D:thumbsup:

The bike looks awesome Darty, thanks for posting the photos of your undercarriage system. I do have a question about the rear left and right panels. Normally the front of those panels bolt to a tab on the back of the stock tank shrouds. What are you bolting them to in your mod? That's the one thing I can't tell from your pics.

Cheers

Norm,

Here is the aluminum under carriage system I made. I still need to tidy things up, like trim it and polish it up.

The front part I welded directly to the radiator braces and I have drilled holes for increased air flow. This is where the radiator braces fits to the shroud.

The side mount also is designed to push the shroud out a little out to increase air flow as well, but designed to spread a blow against stock tank in a crash. Also just have to remove the side mount bolt and swing bracket down for fast tank removal.

The shroud in the drivers seat with legs, I think is better than old husky ones.

The top mounts were angled, cut, pop riveted, drilled to go right in existing tank lugs.

Everything actually is mounted to any original tank lugs.

The top of shroud ( hole on each shroud) holes are not even needed at all, due to how secure these are mounted.I used two push in rubber bumpers to rub against tank.

Seat goes on and off just like factory fit.

Thanx!

Just used a U channel piece of aluminum channel. One side drilled to attach to your upper subframe.
Then other side I marked and drilled to use a metric auto body U clip with 5mm threads.

You will want that Aluminum U channel just wide enough to pull the front of your side plate in against the frame. I trimmed mine out to fit round frame tubing. This way your riding pants or boots don't catch on it.
I leaving for Vegas but can post pick later in week.

I've run the bike and really like it. I like the front fender over the old one for some reason. I've had no issues with any bolts coming loose or no cooling issues. I am just running engine ice for testing then will switch to Zip Ty XF coolant.

There are two things I did to this bike that I really like. I took a lot of riders suggestions on the 216 Golden AA tire.
I also, am a big fan of the old rear Trelleborg Ten Master, which is now a Mitas tire XT 754.
So far, I like the tire combo front and rear. Front is holding it's bite on wet grass, logs, mud, roots and hard pack. The rear just bites like heck, digs a heck of a berm and you do not want to ride behind me. That tire throws stuff like a sling shot at rider behind.
