• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Cutting down stock mufler

Hi all,
Apparently cutting 100mm off stock Ktm 300 muffler gives them more lowdown torque and throttle response.
Has anyone done this mod to there husky?

Find sum1 sellin a 250sx or tc250 stock muffler n save yours for resale. Havnt dun it on ktm style bikes but did on stock wr300 n wr125 mufflers n a qstealth to get rid of SA. Personally nt a fan of big long mufflers too easy to damage n bend/snap mounts.

Nutty n a few others on DBW do it(assume this is your source?) n say gives bit better throttle response with no discernible diff in noise. I thought longer silencer was better for torque tho

Yeah shawry, I was referring to nutty..
Mite run it past the dbw pumpkin lovers and see if anyone's done it to a husky..

Should be able to snavel a new take off or used stock 250sx/TC fairly easily. Not many mx blokes stay with stock exhausts! Powercore 2 are sweet or pro circuit 304 but may be a bit louder

Yeah there's a couple of stocko' s on book face for $100 ..
Tryin to find someone that's already done it so I can invest the dollars on kids bikes as they gunna need top ends soon..

It's a 30min job mate(beers inc) with grinder, skinny disc n rivet gun! Only gotta chop the cannister n core to length then remount with rivets(maybe screws dunno wat they run?).

Yeah I know it won't take long, got all necessary tools but don't wanna cut it then find out it makes it worse..
Got a weekend away riding this wkend and next weekend with the whole family as well so I might wait till I get home and give it the chop..
Don't need any bagging from the mates if I chop b4 I go then it's no good.. Mind you if it does slow it down atleast the Kim's might have a chance to keep up...

Its a ktm so would be the same
I prefer longer mufflers - quieter and to me it gives it a longer power band. I wouldn't cut the stock one - get an aftermarket one , MX version or s/hand one to try

i cut my stock one down so the tip is just past the black bracket that holds exhuast. I'll upload a picture later on.

very small difference in sound, slightly louder really but not even a noticeable difference if you didn't point it out to someone. looks a lot neater though.

couldn't notice any diffference in power, i will be buying a FMF shorty & giving that a go, a mate i ride with as one & has a really nice crisp note to it, that's what i was hoping to get towards cutting down my stock one but nowhere near it haha !!
