• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi Guys,

Finally remembered to take a pic of my old girl, I had her outside today to do an oil change and

clean the oil filter screens.

I recently bought a Billet clutch cover off E-bay for a great price so I swapped it over for the

original, doesn't have a oil sight glass, but a level bolt, interestingly the bolt lines up below the

bottom level of the sight glass.

Cheers, Dave.Dave\'s 570 (Medium).JPG

very nice..the italian bikes with that strong swede design sound like a good mix of both styles..im sure its a bit different but the frame on those look like an 80s swede motor would bolt in!

I had an '01 TE400 and frame was still pretty close to Swedish one. I would sit in the garage and stare at the bottom end of my '82 250WR engine and marvel at how close it still was to that '01 4T engine....

Hi Guys,

Than you for the positive comments :)

I have had her for just over two years, in that time I have got her fully road registered:D

I must have been a eye opener for the Inspector, I took a milk crate to stand on, strapped to my

back as I was still not confident at starting her.

Here is a couple of pics of some of the repairs, I had to clean all the sand out of the l/h switch

block.

The blinker switch was an easy fix where the ball bearing sat in the middle, I just touched up the

two leading edges with a file where the bearing rides out of the detent middle position.

All other switches and wiring in the l/h switch block was o.k, boy was I lucky.

The ignition switch came in two pieces the switch and the wiring, so I studied the wiring diagram

and worked out that I only needed 4 wires out of the 7, the switch from the factory is wired for a

motard as well.

After searching around I did find a l/h switch block is available,

Hi Guys,

Here is a pic of how the wiring for the ignition switch came, I had some soldering to do!

And a pic of everything mounted, looks much better!

Cheers, Dave.

very nice bike...looks just like mine. No way I can make it street legal here in the states though, that's too bad

Hi 2strokefixer,

Thank you, I still remember my 1982 WR250 which was road registered in Australia, it had a sticker on the head stem

saying something like, not suitable for on road use in the U.S.A

For some reason that always made me appreciate the fact that it was registered.

I did quite a few grass track races/ old time scrambles, I would always ride to them, race, then ride home.

They were definitely good days for me!

Cheers, Dave.

Yup. there is a sticker that says that its for "closed course racing only" Guess I'll have to save up some money and look into getting that smr610:rolleyes:... I've never competed before but after riding the heck outa this bike I wouldn't mind looking to get into some type of racing...even though I am not that fast
