• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Debaffling twin exhausts-worth it or not?

Hi, I have the version of the 610 with twin exhausts which are fully baffled.

I read the 610 thread on the speedzilla.com forums and one quote sticks in my mind that he said when he debaffled the exhausts it felt more like a 450 motocross bike than a cruiser.

I figure even the weight alone would be worth it, each baffle must weigh about 2 kg.

The only thing I am worried about is noise, when I am riding it, there is already quite a lot of exhaust noise in the immediate vicinity. My pops also thinks taking the baffles out will cause a lot more exhaust noise and says it won't be worth it.

What do we think on here?

I thought the cat was before the exhausts? It is in a car anyway, my 610 is a 2001 and has just twin exhausts. Also it is carbed and the 610 in that thread is FI as well as the 630. Not sure if it makes a difference but worth a mention.

Another thing, my 2001 has twin exhausts which makes the weight saving of debaffling them two fold.

I de-catted my 630 and converted the cans to a flow through. A definite weight savings and a noticeable performance boost. Not much extra noise. I got my perf pipe from england. Cam.

Thanks KXcam, that was another question I wanted to ask, what is the purpose of the perforated pipe through the middle of the can? What is the downside to leaving the whole lot hollow? Thanks.

So you can pack the volume of the can outside the perforated pipe with fiberglass muffler packing.
If you just leave the whole thing hollow, it's going to sound like a can of angry bees riding on a tractor.
