  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

decompression lobe/cam worn ?

i added this to another thread but i thought i'd post a thread especially for this item. it looks to me like the lobe has almost completely worn off but i do not have one in my hand to compare, only pic here !

Mine did this also.... 2007 TE 250... ended up ordering another when I put my 300 kit on..

Speaking for myself it was a little harder to start but it wasn't really that noticable just another second added... I thought the battery was losing it's punch (original battery...) and as it turns out it is... probably gonna go with a turntech 2.5 in the spring... hope it will work with the 300 kit...
 
yeah as above.. battery struggles a bit when hot.. new battery etc and as i ride with 2 other 450's and 510's its apparent theres an issue... got one coming from R&D husky.. 77 bucks delivered.. hope its easy to fit ! lol. also hard to kick start as i can stand on it and bounce...doesnt move much ! lol.. time to fix over chrimbo ! .. well, i reckon , 2 bolts, bearing off, circlip, shim and replace and refit... 1hr tops.. hopefully ! ;)
 
came today and installed in an hour.. difference ? night and day... turns over faster with E start and i kicked it anf lit 2nd time out... not bad.. i'll see how it goes after a ride but its promising.. i'll post up a "how to" later ! ;)
 
yes... easy as pie ! prob why i had issues with batery etc.. i can kick it over now without decomp lever...well, its still hard but do-able now !
