• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The origional post says shoe horn not splice. Often using the lower cradle and swingarm is the route decided upon. Not only the chain on the brake side but the lack of a top motor mount most of brand x has. All the air cooled large displacement stuff is long past it's design lifespan by now. How about something like the rotax 406 used by can am and atK? The air cooled top end will fit on the water cooled lower end with a swap of the cylinder bolts/studs. I missed a very nice six speed husky cr 500complete transmission, which is the same as an wr,xc 250 transmission(well equivelant years) getting distracted instead of bidding early on ebay lately. It went for barely over $50 plus shipping. The third gear (500xc, 430wr,others) was still availavle last I checked. Metal chips run through the whole thing? Some of the listings do have sufficient pictures to evaluate. You said transmission not starting primary gearing was the issue.

The husky of this section and for that matter the next one older single cam the chain is closer to the side of the tire than most of other motorcycles I have observed of similar class.

Something like a 1999 te410 fits pretty well but the problem is it would need an s shaped manifold to get the carburetor away from the frame. Yes you would have to make some radiators. It would also seem to open up the possibility of getting a plate if you live in a state with annual or semi annual inspections.

From discussion elsewhere it seems the last air cooled KDX 200 air cooled have the aluminum electrofusion type cylinder where husky went water cooling before nikisil. Not sure of how much difference there is in the various ways of not using an iron liner.
