• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Don't Have a Problem with KTM's but....

water racer

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I am just about over a majority of their owners and their arrogant superior "I ride one too" attitude. They are amused by my Husqvarnas but they really don't believe there is another bike besides KTM.
I took my suspension from my TC250 to the local KTM shop to have it serviced and he went out of his way to tell me that it was a low level Sachs shock and that he had a hard time finding the fork oil level spec in the CD manual I had given him. All I can say is that low level shock is better than any KTM I have ridden and the owners manual is cutting edge coming on a zip drive and actually shows how to rebuild your bike instead of just showing where the choke is.
Just makes it more fun when I pass KTM's on the trail.
Other than that, I like KTM's!

Dang GP, who put the salt in your TANG drink this am? I agree, was never a fan of that rear suspension on them and had more back problems from it. That Sachs shock at least doen't feel like a railroad spike.

I'm afraid that I have to agree about the KTMtude. I owned a KTM, and never figured out the mystique of the brand. It was orange, it was Austrian, it handled well and had decent power. I thought it was a bit over-engineered in certain respects, while at the same time, a bit frail. Overall, I didn't find it to be anymore unique than other brands of bikes. And then there's the problem of being lost in a sea of the pumpkin colored critters whenever I go for a ride anywhere.

Kinda make you feel like Charlie Brown doesn't it?

I grew up in Colorado. The KTM attitude is everywhere up there. I am 6'3" and had preferred kawaski cause they seemed to fit. I finally gave in and bought a KTM a few years back and quickly realized I made a mistake. I tried to make it fit but never could be comfortable. I ended up back on a Kawi 450 that had way more power then the T
KTM and better suspension.
Now I'm riding husky, I am comfortable with it right out of the box. Loads of power, handles great and the best thing of all... Thousands of dollars less than a comparable KTM. I guess I'm not a sheep, I like to decide for myself.

I own both a Husky & a KTM..... I like them both, but I really never saw a motorcycle I didn't like.

But I do see your point, although the KTM shop guys are in the business to support orange bikes. I thought he was very unprofessional with his comment. In this economy he should have been very happy to service whatever & get paid to do it & keep his mouth shut. I guess I'm the only KTM rider that doesn't have the Harley Davidson syndrome.... LOL

That dealer lost points/ I agree. Wouldn't go back due to lack of confidence in them. Not the place for Brand wars unless you want to loose business- agree w./ BadMotoWeazal

I have gotten alot of tong and cheek crap at least- especially since my bike was the 2nd Husky but first EFI husky in the club... (lots of efi speculation) however now there's 8-10 and more and more interest.... seems to have gained alot of respect in my club and amongst attendees of events. Now its boiling down to straight competition- who passes who and who's looking at there bike on the side of the trail more (not me sucka).

That would be the last time I went to that shop even for something as simple as oil. It's hard to believe in this day, with our economy like it is, that any dealer would have a negative comment for any possible business. Doors are still closing every day because of lack of business.I too have owned and raced Euro, Jap, orange, green, blue, red, yellow and still have an assorted group including a pumpkin in the herd. This January when I went to get my suspension serviced and revalved I encountered a similar experience with one of the biggest suspension companies on both east and west coast reguarding my Husqvarna suspension components. The comment was very irritating to me reguarding the Sachs shock and then I was told that they didn't even have any springs for that or my forks . I then said well I would rather take it to someone who knows what their doing with them and has a working knowledge of the components than some company that has put all of their efforts into 1 European brand. And off to Works Enduro Rider they went.

they are all good these days IMHO. TM, GG, Beta, KTM, husky... all good. KTM is aggressive with many models and outside the box thinking. Also masters at aftermarket. They do a lot of things right. But in the end i prefer my huskys and all the little quirks that come with them. The thing i most dislike about KTM is the dealers and their my stuff is made of gold and it's the best attitude. Whatever.

I don't have a problem with KTM's. Lord knows I've owned my share. I have a problem with KTM PRICES and the dealers that refuse to discount them!

I guess I'm the only KTM rider that doesn't have the Harley Davidson syndrome.... LOL

Yeah, some HD riders have it bad. I could sort of understand it back when they scoffed at the metric copy cruisers. There was some American Pride in there. But there's always been plenty of ignorance in the attitude, that Harley or nothing as if they were the be all and end all. I mean, I like my Harley and it is the most reliable bike I've ever owned, but still...

I must be the only Harley rider that isn't that way. I probably own the dirtiest Harley in the state (that runs). I'd rather ride it than spend 3 hours washing and waxing it.

Orange is not an attractive color. It's the color of a bad tan or contaminated water. The bikes are decent, but the KTM marketers sure have cultivated quite a throng of orange lemmings. But there are some breakaways. Those that brave to differ from the norm. And buy a Husaberg.

The Harley "attitude" is probably the only thing keeping me from buying one. I've ridden many of the newer EFI Hogs and really like them a lot. My neighbor (a cool Sportster owner) and I ride together from time to time. But I'm not allowed to go with him when he rides with another Harley owner in our neighborhood. When I asked why, he told me our other neighbor thinks Aprilia's are for "fags".

My philosophy is I'm going to ride what I want and if others have a problem with that... fuck em!

I'm a Husky rider in a sea of Orange, Red and Blue. I get scoffed at by a few supposed know it alls because they think their bikes are better, but I could care less. I love mine. Maybe their bike would give me the edge if I was gridding up with Villopoto. But I'm not. I never will. I ride for fun and my Husky totally delivers for that. It's cheaper than a KTM and lots of people dr00l over my bike because it's got the sexy oozing out of its pores.

I catch tons of crap from all the sport bike riders because I got a Harley. Many of them first saw me on the Harley and think of me as that type of person, even though it was my first cruiser and I rode suzukis and beemers for 25 years on the street before I got that Road King. Some people have enough sense to notice that I manage to keep up a respectable pace in the twisties with very limited lean angle and come up totally astonished and want to shake my hand. It's kinda funny.

If they don't like your ride, that's their problem. They can bitch about it while the eat your dust. :)

And any shop that offends me by dissing my brand... isn't getting my business. Rule #1 is business is do NOT piss off the customer!

Wow, where would we start!! I remember back in 1993, if my mind serves me correctly, hec my Husky wxc 250 had aluminum subframe, quick release seat, quick adjust clutch, aluminum bars, excel rims, dished bolts, Grease fittings for the linkage!! Yes I was sold and loud about my love for the brand!!! I looked at my buddies YZ 250 and laughed, but I remember even before that, hating KTM's (hes they were not even orange yet!!!) Everyone who currently makes bikes, must make OK bikes or they would be out of business. Let them have their attitude. In my mind the KTM is inferior to a Husky and I have my resons for thinking that. Yep some of them are brainwashed like my buddy that thinks GM is the only automotive brand on the planet. The Husky works for me. I have ridden ALL kinds of bikes. I like the stable way they feel and many many other aspects of a Husky!! Oh yea, and they are SEXY!!!
