• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Drilling holes in airbox cover

Took the bike out this afternoon for a decent ride and top is vastly improved. Was pretty suprised when I pinned it the first few times. Definitely worth while but that's just my $0.02

Hey, people who don't get it, just don't get it... It doesn't take a Mental Giant to know its just an air pump and it has to get air first to have air to pump, when your sitting on the bike you are covering a vast amount of the access points for air to get to the airbox as it's only access comes from under the edge of the mounted seat. Just sitting down on the bike, restriction of the access for that air getting to where it needs to go is not just imagined, its real.

Giovanni Sala, 1992 ISDE, Farioli KTM250EXC 3 holes in his white KTM side panel, Davide Trolli's, Farioli KTM300EXC had the same set up. History repeats itself 3 holes of about the same diameter drilled in my white KTM side panel.....

(3) Side panel. We’re big fans of the Husqvarna FC250 body styling. The white/yellow/blue scheme harks back to the glory days of Husky. Unfortunately Husqvarna broke a cardinal rule to design – form should always follow function. The one-piece number plate and airbox cover may kill two birds with one stone, but there is a problem. Designed for use on the enduro models, the FC250 airbox cover is sealed up tighter than King Tut’s tomb. When test riders complained that the Husky didn’t feel as responsive down low as the KTM 250SXF, we removed the side panel and had them ride without it. They reported a vast improvement. So, we grabbed a cordless drill and bored five quarter-size holes into the left-side panel just in front of the lip enclosing the air box. For good measure we drilled two more holes at the top of the side panel. The result was remarkable. We noticed an improvement throughout the power range, including throttle response and over-rev.

(4) Airbox. To be more specific, the left-side panel prevents air from entering the air box. Break out the drill and let the engine breathe.

add on, I removed my seat and inspected the intake (hand holds), they do have air passage flow, but are blocked off in a lot of spots. I did not want to radius the black plastic "wall" but I did radius the white plastic fender material to open it up a little bit. I will try to snap a shot of it. I think probably you could radius the subframe rib and or even some of the cross ribs, but I'm opting to leave well enough alone the bike makes more than enough bark for me.

Can I ask a stupid question? Does a TE300 come standard with a radiator fan? I know the FE's do but I forgot to look for one on the 2016 TE300 when I was at the dealer.

Edit: I found the answer. Sucks they don't come stock.

I saw most of the MX teams are running fans on the FC's. I checked the Husky Accessory Catalog and they offer a plug-in-play fan kit for FC's and the TE line. Has a digital readout and you can set the temp it comes on as well. Only $130 or so.. I've got one coming

Thanks guys, ya I had a brain fart. My dilemma is trying decide on a 300 xc w or a TE300 and items I'd need to purchase post sale. I'm leaning orange due to the 4cs forks on the te300. I'm not sure my bank account can take another 4cs upgrade like I did on my fe501... also have a line on a 2015 ec300re

guess I just figured it did... I dont even consider the W model because I've had nightmares with PDS and would rather pay $800 and revalve 4cs or 2 grand and do Ohlins inserts
