  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ebay: Good deal or counterfeit silencer?

So does the new muffler weigh more or less than the one you took off?
My Ti mufflers are noticeably lighter then the the OE Pipes I took off.

Now that could be because the OE pipes are double walled and the TI pipes are single walled but i bet that muffler is pretty quiet as it is a pretty large size for a 250.

I had a small window to throw it on after work last night. In my haste to put it on...I forgot to weigh them against each other to compare. :banghead:

The magnet test could work but keep in mind not all S/S alloys are magnetic, in fact most are not.

300 series stainless steels contain a higher amount of nickel and are not magnetic. These S/S alloys are considered "austenitic".
Its the quantity of nickel in the Stainless alloy that makes it magnetic or not magnetic.

400 series stainless steels contain steel and chromium but don't contain Nickel in their alloys and they do in fact have magnetic properties, they are considered "martensitic" or "ferritic" S/S. These alloys are not often used for consumer goods other than kitchen cutlery and other utensils.

you can't beat an unmolested exhaust for 40 bucks.... that looks clean! congrats on the good find!!!

Thanks!

I haven't taken it out yet...but I'm picturing my first time out I will have a wicked lay down on the right side and it will come up lookin' like a $40 pipe...lol
