  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

EFM auto clutch

I have one in my 2011 449. After i got the shimming distance correct it worked flawlessly. And you dont/cant have a hand cutch anymore. Worth the money!!

How long was the turn around, cost and what did you need to send to him?

Thanks

You still get downhill engine breaking but not as much. As for $ i paid $700 to efm , $80 shipping (Ontario Canada to Ohio and back), and about an 2 hrs of shop time at the dealer.( Disassemble and reassemble).Turn around for me was 2 weeks. Thanks Joe Chod for your input. If i can figure out how to post pics id be glad to post some of the efm auto here.

I shipped my clutch out and should get there this Wednesday. Gary said about 1 to 2 week turn around. I will take pictures once I get it in. The price is 690 plus shipping. I will be installing it myself.

The clutch is very different than most, there is no basket.

I spoke to gary and will be sending mine at some point to. The only thing that really bothers me is no kick start on the 449/511 and you can;t push start it with an auto clutch. Bring jumpers and hope for another e-start 4 stroke in the group.

EFM is nice because you can use the clutch, which I need on a 125/144/165. I just rode a KTM 200 with old style Rekluse (Not EXP) and I can see why you throw the clutch lever away... no feel or modulation. It was like riding an old Husky Auto. Friend has EMF with clutch lever and mountain bike rear brake lever on the bars, nice set up.
I just put a mountain bike master cylinder on my 09 165 w/EFM and I'm surprised how good it feels. I thought with the smaller cylinder much more lever travel would be required, but not so much.

I know a guy with a husaburg 400 with a rekluse. No kick starter ether. He brings along short cables to jump start. I was concerned at first, but how many guys now days have batteries in their bikes... almost all with the group I ride with.
