  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Electrical problems, TE449 2011

Oh, Tinkerbell (since we're name calling now) Ive uploaded Map3 to my 2011 ECU.... at home.
No real change to how it ran before when TPS tuned except for a slight improvement to VERY light cruise hesitation.
With the TPS back down to the preset 0.6v and Map3 running, it's business as usual.

A stock 2011 TE449 has 29hp.

So, as I said, the Factory claimed 46.5hp, yes, at the engine. (no manufacturers publish wheel hp)
Are you saying that we loose 17.5hp through the drivetrain, from an engine that makes only 46.5 and drives out through all parallel straight cut gears and a chain drive. (more than 1/3 of its power)
Again, I say how is that possible?

Are you mental?
Quite sane actually.
Not sure what part of the thread you're asking about in particular, but I won't be wasting my time continuing to respond from here forward.

You aren't worth the energy.
Carry on all you want little man.
Good day to you.

I can tell ya that while the TPS adjustment surely does help with low speed stall, there's more power to be had and improved off idle performance to be had. The JD helped somewhat, but after finally dropping the cash (that myself like you didn't want to, or felt I needed to do DM) on the PCV made it better all around.

It really shines for me in tight, slow, technical nasty singletrack where I find myself not needing to cover the clutch near as much and can lug it down really low, then blip the throttle with zero hesitation.

I resisted for a couple of years, but can't think of having it any other way now.

Can you please email me or provide a link to your pcv map? IM running Tinken's 2012 ZipTy map and havea stutter at WOT. thanks

I would point you to the page in the ZipTy part of the forum to get a map, but that thread has been deleted. Suggest you pm Tinken. Those maps you have sound like older versions. I don't even have the dyno jet software loaded on my laptop yet. I went to ZipTy and we used their computer. Might be a while before I can do that for you.

Thanks for responding. I'll pm tinken. If that doesn't work maybe I'll spring for the auto tune. Did you need to grind off and weld the bung on or were you able to use an adaptor for the o2 sensor. Thanks

Open up the field adjustment and add five percent more fuel on the top. Recheck wide open throttle.

These bikes suck as delivered. With an exhaust, tc airbox lid, map 3 it was ok.

With a pod filter, power commander v, removing the secondary throttle plate, adding tons of ignition timing, it would outrun my friends 500exc with the same mods, and gearing and both on 17s.

They really missed the mark on tuning at the factory. After all my mods I could bounce the front up on the freeway at 60 in 5th. Sold the bike because intrest was killing me. Miss it already.

Anyways I ran through the motions and the biggest hp gain was ignition timing and a pod filter.

Remapping adjusting tour tps or whatever is a waste of time. You need to just do a power commander and be done with it. The ignition timing allows the bike to rev and hit the limiter like a 450 motorcross bike should.

Thanks. i upped the fuel 5% on the high end. Seems to run fine. Funny thing is that i think that it is just bouncing off of the rev limiter. It doesnt bog when i wack it at low RPM. it does run pretty good now with the pcv and your maps, so thank you. one minor annoyance is that when i am cruzing at low rpm for about 15 seconds it seems that it wants to cut out. i have to add a little clutch and throttle to get her past this rough spot.

I think the soft limiter is 10,5 then 11k for the hard fuel cut IIRC.
