  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Exhaust System Weights (especially the muffler)

I dunno... Might have to confirm that on a scale...

Had both in my hand, the Barrett weighed a good bit less. Scientific i know. :>) I don't get to rapped up in weight or power (especially on a big bore 4 stroke e-start DS bike), I like handling and suspension, thats where i concentrate my efforts. Where i would like to loose a lot of weight is in wheel and tire sets but cant find a way to do that and not get flats.

My mufflers are 850 grams each. The dual exhaust pipes are 1900 grams. Just wait until I am done with the carbon tank, I am experimenting with a way to make the exhaust pipes after the header out of carbon too.

4.2 pounds for the dual stainless pipes
1.9 pounds x 2 for the dual mufflers
and whatever the weight of the FMF megabomb is.

The entire OEM LeoVince exhaust system found on the 2013 TXC310R weighs
8.6 pounds= 3.91 Kg.

that's not super light but that's not bad at all for an OEM 4T system nose to tail complete with hardware and all.

Tom Ritchey once said- "strong, light, cheap, pick any two"....

i built a light-weight (subjective) kick-only MX KID DR-Z copy once in 2000. i used the Yosh full Ti system. it was 4# or 5#'s i think it was...i almost hit myself in the face lifting it outa the box it was so light. and it wasnt cheap! but man Ti exhaust from a nice pipe maker is just such awesome suff.

For your 511? Sweet

I didn't weigh the difference between FMF and the OEM, I do know I could do a lot more curls with the FMF.
I would bet 4 or 5 lbs. less.

K,
My issue is that sprung weight thats high and far away from CG (also like my fat arse included!!). think of the G forces when hammering over stuff with 8 lbs hanging over your rear wheel, moving up and down stop and go cycles at a high rate of accelerations speed, the lever ratio is pretty high, 8 lbs becomes 16 or whatever the math gets you.
OK no science because I only have moto feely data, but when I removed the @8.5 lb and long OEM muffler off my 11 TE310 and installed the TC 250 Ti 4Lb shorter muffler (@1/2 the weight) purchased from Jake the difference in ride/handling and suspension feel was very noticable and that combined with the Liion battery.....hey Im no pro but the bike especially when pushed hard really went up more than a few notches on the feel scale with all that away from cg weight loss (@6.5-7lbs total!!!). She Feels much lighter especially in g out type LSCD regimes like rolling whoops.

I totally agree, was not saying that. Good stuff.

Old thread sorry. I am looking to replace my stock muffler with a FMF 4.1 but can't find the model number on fmfs website. It is for a 2012 te310. Any help is appreciated. Also is the stock header good enough or does a power bomb increase that much? Tia

I seen a used fmf 4.1 on zipty's web site the other day for $200.00 you can check and see if they have one left..

They are silencers only, no mid pipe. They have some cosmetic scratches and dings. Cost on those are $180 with your CH discounts.
Yes, the powerbomb is definitely worth it. FMF no longer sells the 4.1 rct specifically for the 310. They do sell it for the TC250, but the mid pipe would have to be swapped out for the 310 model.

Thanks. So the power bomb gives more low to mid power or more high to over rev? I am looking for more grunt if possible. Also, what is the model number for the TE310 specific FMF 4.1? I found some FMF factory 4.1 SL's on the inter webs but I don't know if the model is correct. They say 2011 TE310.

Powerbomb gives low end power. The 2011 models should fit up. Our silencers were custom made for us by FMF and tuned to fit our factory Husqvarna race bikes, so there is no model number for them to speak of.

Thanks for all the help Tinken:thumbsup: I ordered a factory 4.1 titanium and powerbomb. I will weigh my stock exhaust and the new one and do a comparo post soon:popcorn: Hopefully my txc ecu and 12 hole settings will work OK with the new exhaust.
