• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Can I ask if you are running standard ecu, booster plug/wuki, or tuner such as pc5? I'd imagine it would need more fuel with freer flowing pipe? Apologies if you posted this alrwady elsewhere.

I use the booster plug, (no ECU work), fitted the pod filter, the oxygen sensor will automatically adjust for freer gas flow

Am experimenting with cavitation plate in exhaust, close to the cylinder head, to overcome excessive valve overlap at low loads

Am undertaking 20,000klm service at 16,700klms

Impressed with Motorex oil & K&P stainless oil filter
 
Thanks for sharing the info Engineerk9, I'm thinking about a Staintune pipe, so thinking my booster plug should suffice, just nice to get second opinion :)
 
Thanks Engineerk9. Wasn't sure if that GPR would allow for racks. From what I have seen, the Staintune really bodges up the ability to do panniers, and if you do, that side's rack requires modification and gets WAAAAY out there.

Wow... 3 possible options now for exhaust! Custom from local, Screaming Demon if we can get them to run 30 more, and GPR.

Looks really nice, but how hot does the outer casing get ?
Would it be a leg burner for my co-pilot ??
 
GearHead. Due to making my own racks and keeping the nice and close to the original ones, are the screaming demon exhausts any bigger or fatter at all as I only have about a finger widths gap.

What price are we looking at if we do a group order does anyone know as this might persuade me. Am still concerned about the bike running to lean though even with a booster plug.

AzOzRider, I have the SW Motec pannier frames and a Staintune exhaust. The Staintune sits nicely inside the frame and neither pannier side is excessively wide. That said, the SW Motec frames were designed to clear the OEM mufflers and now there is room on the right hand side for me to mount a RotopaX fuel container, which I have just done.

Tomorrow I'll move the AIT sensor out of the air box & fit forward of the radiator, so as not to be effected by heat from the motor
I'll also arrange a Dyno run to measure power & exhaust
In another post there was a simple inexpensive modification to the AIT wiring, the addition of a small variable resistor to vary ecu input
I'll make that decision based on the Dyno results
My TR stutters more in high temperature Sydney weather when riding in slow moving traffic since the Pod-mod, yet out on the open road performs perfectly

Thanks for the info. Personally I don't like the look of the Staintune at ALL, but good to know its an option if I get stuck. Someone must have done something different to the one I saw... it stuck out so far it only added to the hideous look. Looked for owner but didn't want to wait around.

Chris told me if we get the minimum 5 people willing to commit, he would do $569 or better, but couldn't say how much better. They have to buy all 30 from ILIX when they have them run them, so they are just looking to recoup a good chunk before putting them on the open market again. He says they don't stick out any further than factory. Haven't heard any bad feedback from people running these. Seems like most cost effective solution thus far.
 
I would be down for a set of pipes to add to that order!

I live in Canada however... Does that complicate things?

I will measure in the morning once I get up(just got home from work).
They do fit in the correct position to still allow the use of the factory heat shield, they have those provisions on there and when I had them on they seemed to fit a little better on the bike then they do on stock cans.

No, it shouldn't. They said they sold most of the pipes last time to USA. I count 3 of us so far willing to buy. Need 2-3 more and we're good for an order.

Yesterday I ran into a guy while out on a ride with a Strada who has M4 pipes. Good looking titanium things with carbon ends. They bark pretty loud, and he said they were transformational for the bike. I haven't had the chance to research yet. I'm not a fan of the outfit that bought and installed them for him, but from what I understand they come out of USA. He paid $400/ea fitted, but that shop is known to charge pretty hefty for simple things. I'm sure they marked them up a fair bit and over-charged for install.

I'm curious as to why one would need someone to install them? ... I am fairly new to wrenching, but aren't these slip ons fairly easy to install?
 
Yeah that one was lost on me too. Couple bolts, slip on and off. Guy was a slightly odd duck. Exhaust sounded good though. Very nicely done cans.
